Rob was a Giant amongst Giants. I'm totally sure heaven needed a gifted musician. He extended everybody's notion of talent. God rest his glorious soul.

I’ve been incredibly honored to have my artwork featured on CandyRat Records, thanks to Rob Poland’s trust and support since 2017. Collaborating with Nick Johnson on his videos has been a true joy, and I’m grateful for the creative freedom we’ve had. Thank you to everyone who’s watched and supported these videos over the years. To Holly, my heart goes out to you, and know that the community is here for you in whatever you choose to do. Sending love and support.

I wouldn't have learned finger style if I didn't watch all those Andy McKee and Don Ross videos twenty years ago. Thank you and my condolences

WHAAAAT?!?! This is so tragic. Candy Rat Records has shaped my whole life. I love so many Candy Rat artists and have had the privilege to listen to and play with many of them. Thank you Rob Poland for everything you did and for showing me artists I would have never had the pleasure of knowing otherwise. Your legacy is incredible and you are already deeply missed.

I am so sorry to hear this… the musicians on Candy Rat, especially Andy McKee, COMPLETELY changed my life for guitar. Lifting up prayers of comfort for you during this time, you guys are amazing. Sorry for your loss.

CandryRat was probably the first true YouTube channel that I discovered that showcased guitarists from around the world and it was a huge inspiration for me as a young teenager getting my first guitar. Watching the artists that the channel supported on it made me want to play more and be like these artists one day. Though I never had the chance to meet the man behind the label, his legacy will continue to live on, as these videos will continue to inspire me and every other aspiring guitarist out there. Rest in peace Rob, thanks for the memories! 🎸❤️

I owe much of my success to Candyrat Records and the artists that they nurtured. The music of Andy McKee and Antoine Dufour quite literally saved my life back in 2008 and I’m thankful every single day that Candyrat took the risk to internationally legitimize instrumental guitar. Peace, Love and Happiness to you and yours. ❤️

So sorry for this loss, it's a loss for all of us. What your husband created was, for lack of a better phrase, profoundly positive. For the Arts, for the artists, and for those of us who deeply love this style of music. I'm so sorry. If I could I would thank him for choosing to spend his time and energy in this creative way. Many benefited and we owe him a debt of gratitude which now can never be repaid. Be proud of him and what he accomplished.

CandyRat had a huge contribution to my personal finger style guitar development. I attribute CandyRat for my introduction to StoneBridge guitars(now Furch guitars) . Much appreciated. My deepest condolences.

Candyrat Records
It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of Rob Poland, my beloved husband of 33 years, the father of our three children, grandfather to Zelda Mae and my partner in life. As many of you know, Rob was original founder and President of CandyRat Record’s, with operations beginning in 2005. CandyRat Records has grown into being a global leader in the music industry for the fingerstyle guitar niche, as well as the guitar industry as a whole.
Rob was a true visionary, a dedicated businessman and had a true passion for the music! His contributions to the Fingerstyle and Guitar Community will be forever remembered. His legacy will continue on through the record label and the guitar community we built with him as our leader. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, colleagues, and customers.
On behalf of myself and his father, John Poland Sr, we would like to assure you that the record label is running as usual, which will include new music coming to you weekly, as well as pending projects and continuing promotion. Please, feel free to reach out directly to myself, Holly Poland, at candyratrecords@yahoo.com for any questions or concerns!
Thank you all for your continued support and understanding during this difficult transition!
P.S.- I would love to hear from anyone who knew Rob and/or was inspired by his passion for the guitar community in order create a proper tribute for him. He was the not only the love of my life, but he was truly one of the first to put fingerstyle guitar on the map and on the stage! Thank you in advance! 🎶🤘🏻Holly❤️
