Have you ever received a chemical peel on your face or body?

@brilliantbrenda

Peels were really helping me With hyperpigmentation. Got them Done in Australia and Georgia but now that I’m back in Cali… and moved to Northern California I haven’t done my research for dermatologist that work with darker skin. Need to get on it.

I first had a course of 6 peels professionally 15 years ago which tingled but aesthetically didn't do anything for me. Then used a few boxed sets from L'Oréal and Boots which actually left my skin much more smoother and glass-like but unfortunately they have been long discontinued. I recently got back into skincare and tried the ordinary 30% glycolic which is x3 stronger than what I used before but didn't do anything for me strangely.

My esthetician did a small test on my face last month and saw amazing results. She wanted to see how irritated my skin got - red or flaky. I’m doing one this weekend and excited to see the difference in acne and hyperpigmentation.

Had a series of 4 glycolic peels on my back to address hyperpigmentation but didn’t see any results and didn’t experience any peeling.

I started getting peels 12 years ago. I stopped getting them consistently over the last 3 years. However, I just had a Vitalize peel last week. It was glorious...

i was told that i need x4 VI Peels and the 1st three removed years of sun damage & adult acne. however, the 4th peel left a burn on my face that is not going away with face treatments & tretinoin...i shoulda stopped at three tx's when my skin looked great

Best thing I ever did! It's worth the peeling for sure. Can't wait to get another one in the fall.

For those who haven’t had a chemical peel but are thinking of getting one: Make sure you ask your derm/provider the type of chemical peel you’re getting!!! The brand and exact name of the peel, so you can research it before you do it. I did the Vitalize Peel (by SkinMedica) once every 3 months for a year. I tried the Rejuvenize Peel as the Vitalize Peel was no longer making me peel. My melasma faded a lot and my skin tone is a lot more even. No acne improvement. I’m mixed.

I love chemical peels! They have done wonders for my acne and hyperpigmentation! I began getting them last summer because I had ongoing acne flare ups months after I got married. I am fortunate to have found a black female aesthetician who I trust with these skin treatments. The results definitely aren’t overnight, but chemical peels have definitely helped me maintain break outs and improve my overall complexion. I will start back up again at the end of the month!

It would be sooo helpful if you made a video on post inflammatory erythema! I’ve been acne free for 2+ years and have been told that the redness can fade on its own. But it’s not fading as fast as I wish. I would love product recommendations or a skincare regime!

I do peels on myself, because I’m an Aesthetician. I haven’t found anyone in my area that I trust with my dark skin!

I had a Vitamin C/Alpha Hydroxy peel (5 sessions) done by my dermatologist and it worked.

Have Dark hue skin and my own aesthetician does not recommend it for my skin. Instead she went the holistic approach for my skincare routine and I love the results. It went so well that my family and friends get products from her. My own sister goes to another aesthetician but her own aesthetician is curious on how her face healed so quick and looks great from acne breakouts and hyperpigmentation.

Yes, did a chemical peel at a UK clinic called 'Destination Skin' & it's the worse thing I've ever done. Made my hyperpigmentation worse :( I didn't even realize it was a chemical peel until afterwards. It was advertised as a gentle facial. Worst thing is they delete the majority of bad reviews but I know of more victims who are also POC.

I've done it on my face a few times, but the last one I got burned and never did it again. I try to do chemical peels on my feet regularly.
