GojiSonic's Short But Visually Appealing JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH Review
-
PLOT/STORY: 5/10 = The plot feels like your typical adventure exploration, which I believe really let down this movie’s potential. It has a good concept from the surface, but definitely could’ve been better executed.
-
INTRODUCTION: 8/10 = Jurassic films lately have had a thing for almost always having the first scene in their movies be the best scene in the entire movie...
-
CONCLUSION: 1/10 = It just ends......
-
PROTAGONIST: 2/10 = Zora Bennett honestly felt bland and a little stereotypical for about the entirety of the movie with the only real time I felt something for her being near the end with her having brief emotional breakdown.
-
ANTAGONIST: 3/10 = The Distortus has a really cool design, and was a really strong way to introduce the movie, but tragically has zero relevancy to the overall plot and barely feels like a threat upon finally returning near the end.
-
DYNAMICS: 5/10 = The relationship between Zora and her team was to be expected with the way it was handled given the context/situation they put themselves in, so I really didn’t pay much attention to this particular aspect.
-
EMOTIONS: 4/10 = The only real time where there were any impacting emotions was near the end when our main characters were trying to escape the island with the cost of a “sacrifice”, which ends up being pointless with a plot twist.
-
HUMOR: 8/10 = The audience in my theater sure loved Xavier, I’m a little guilty of that myself.
-
ACTION: 7/10 = I really enjoyed the mosasaurus/spinosaurus sequence near the midway section of the movie the most out of the other creatures that the team was searching for.
-
SUSPENSE: 8/10 = Only because of the opening scene with the guy trapped inside with the Distortus. Yes, there was the family on the sinking boat with the mosasaurus in the water with them, but their survival was predictable.
-
SOUNDTRACK: 3/10 = The original Jurassic Park theme with the titanosaurus was unsurprisingly the only track that could be felt in the movie. The only time I actually paid attention to the rest of the soundtrack was during the credits.
-
CINEMATOGRAPHY: 5/10 = The colors are overall natural, so I don’t have much to comment regarding that, with shots, I do like numerous shots within the scenes with the D-Rex, and the quetzalcoatlus, but they’re not peak cinema kind of shots.
-
PACING: 3/10 = I would say trim down a majority of the sequence between Zora, Martin, and Henry with their mission right after the laboratory incident scene in the beginning in replacement for a better spread out conclusion at the end.
-
POWERSCALING: Jurassic World Rebirth doesn’t have as many feats as some of the previous entries in the series, but, they do appear, and when they do appear, you are thrown off in a good way at least, primarily with the Distortus late in the film. Because these are dinosaurs following a grounded universe’s rules, and not world-ending gods, it is expected for them to take injury to modern day weapons, but they can still show resilience on some occasions.

OVERALL: 4/10 = Jurassic World Rebirth has a promising story that is enjoyable on the surface, but once you begin to dig deep into the way the crew chose to portray said story, it begins to fall apart unfortunately.
