Composers, we want to know — how do you build tension and suspense in your scores?

@SymphonyteAudioArtist

Real performances with live instruments - it can add a sense of imperfection and unpredictability. Using a violin bow with different stringed instruments such as an acoustic guitar can create some serious tension when processed right and layered right.

Two instances of brass (or any other instrument). One with normal tuning, the other slightly detuned. Creates a lot of tension 👌

@DJaycerOfficial

Usually with whatever I need the tension to be. Either drums, synth risers, and maybe some weird chords but I don’t tend to use many chords outside of the basic major/minor/diminished/augmented.

Very high or low pitches on the stringed Instruments. Dissonant Intervals and augmented/diminished Chords.
