My career was on the rise until 2020.. then nothing for years.. This year my new years resolution was to take control of my acting career..I acquired the rights to adapt a play from acclaimed writer Tom Topor to adapt his play into a short film. We just finished post production and started submittît it to festivals…. I wrote and self published my second play AND I produced it… I wrote my first feature film .. And I have a micro short film that got into 3 film festivals.. I really stayed true to my resolution.

2022 because I had both hips replaced that year and the first one was horrifying. Excruciating pain, didn’t go home for 12 days. Cried for months.

Gotta be 22 or 23/24. Covid and frontline working was tough n all but a few years in everyone started dying (suicide and OD mostly not directly caused by covid) and living was so unaffordable. I thought my 20s would finally get to start but instead i feel like a 40yr old. Many thanks to the red wheelbarrow that took me 1k miles to safety—the white chickens are asleep though. I miss the rainwater back home. (P.S. dont start a fam in Oregon, if your kids are born there they'll be lucky to live to 35 if they dont leave, it's all for rich tourists now. I think WA is getting hit w the same problem as well. Anecdotes, my word isnt gospel, but dont say nobody warned you.)

Honestly? The last 5 years have been brilliant for me in terms of creativity. 2024 had a few pitfalls but you'd have to go back to before 2017 for a truly difficult year for me.

Between the changes in the industry and AI, I’m ready to give up. 2025 has been THE worst. And it doesn’t seem to be stopping.

I’d argue the door is wide open for creatives except in literature. The political camps are weakening. Publishing still has a literal stranglehold where they want your identity bingo card before they will read a submission. These days though there are many options for independent film development. That, and YouTube makes it easier than ever to gain exposure. Hell a couple of British spergs are literally making millions with an animated parody.
