I think it’s bcs they know they can get away with it! Back in my day, debts were almost a hanging offence but, through the late 80s n 90s it became almost common to walk away from mortgages, a just about any other debt too. I used hear people say” forget it , they just write it off” ! Bad credit became the norm an gen zen grew up with that, so to them, it’s normal.
