I remember feeling excited when the girls would begin to fledge. Now I just hope to have sightings of them in the nest one last time…again…and again! These two females have touched the depths of my heart and soul. I rejoice in their newly found freedom that comes with wings! Fly beautifully, eat well and continue to populate the Eagle species for many years to come!!

These two sisters are so sweet and affectionate towards each other and always have been too and that is because of mom Jackie and dad Shadow and how they loved their girls fed them made sure they were always safe too. I know that mom and dad will still be watching out for their girls until they don’t see them anymore or maybe just might from time to time.🥰❤️🦅🦅🦅🦅. I do hope that we will maybe see a fly-by the nest every once in a while too. Both of the parents did an awesome job with these two girls and the girls sure did learn very well and quick from their parents too. God bless and hugs yo you mom Jackie, dad Shadow and both girls sunny and Gizmo too. This is actually the most I’ve watched this nest ever in the couple of yrs I’ve watched this channel. I’ll surly Miss Gizzie and Dunny for sure.❤️🙏🥰😘🦅🦅❤️👍🏻

This family is very inspiring, EVERY SINGLE wild animal family must face the very same challenges this family does. Hopefully it will inspire all of us to be more mindful of our wild friends. THANK YOU Jackie and Shadow for helping us humans to be more aware of ALL of our wild animal friends ❤❤

Gizzie Girl, you are just so very special to me. You can nibble on Sunny’s tail feathers all you want right now. Tomorrow is coming for you both very soon. The joy these girls bring us daily brings so much Light into every heart that stops to take them in. To think soon we will just have to sit tight and wait until December to do this all over again…🥹

Survival skills…
There was another beautiful sunrise Tuesday morning as this little eagle family of four headed out to begin their day. Before lunchtime, one of our two girls and a parent were seen on the Twin Pine and another juvenile was spotted on the Lookout Snag.
After that, it was pretty quiet in the neighborhood until around dinner time, when Gizmo arrived at the nest through the back porch. What a nice surprise! She watched Sunny flying overhead and when Sunny landed on the High Perch, Gizmo hurried over and hopped up beside her.
Gizmo then decided to move down to the front porch, in the perfect spot just below Sunny. So while there why not take a couple of affectionate nibbles at sis's tail and wing feathers!
Both Sunny and Gizmo vocalized loudly during their stay, but no one showed up with any fish or food. Sunny balanced on her tippie toes on the High Perch branch as Gizmo sweetly nibbled a few more times on Sunny's feathers. They stayed perched about an hour or so, then Sunny flew off toward the Simba Tree and Gizmo followed close behind.
Just a few short weeks ago, these two beautiful sisters strengthened their legs and wings, gaining confidence to climb up on the outer nest rails, and scaled branches of the nest tree, like the High Perch and the attic of the ‘Y’ branch. Once they fledged, their confidence soared as they took to the sky, and these siblings are now quite efficient and stunning!
Sunny and Gizmo are guided by instinct and will continue to learn to hunt by trial and error. During their first year they will primarily scavenge and steal from other birds while they develop the flight skills needed to catch live prey.
To master fishing may take a little longer as it's more of an acquired skill. In the meantime, if they are near shallow water, they may catch a fish directly with their beak, as this is an easier technique. We have also already witnessed both Sunny and Gizmo eat food on a branch.
We certainly hope to see more of these two bonded sisters, but if they disperse sooner than later, we know their amazing parents are preparing them with the skills they need for surviving their first winter.
