Generally, the problem is the bit being used has caused an injury to their mouth. I won’t ride unless a snaffle bit is used.

Ridden heaps. Never seen a horse bleed from there mouth due to biting there tongue while riding. If you horse is bleeding because they bit there tongue while riding still get off!

My coach wants to get to the high level in jumping. Difference between her and all the other riders? She rides in a snaffle, no nose band and a lot of the time not spurs, etc. because she actually trained the horse and doesn’t need to shove unnecessary amounts of metal on the poor animals body.

“Some horses are bleeding from their mouths cause they bit their tongue”
It’s fun cause that mainly happens at high level equestrian competitions
I’ve been riding for many years, taking group lesson for 5 years, been to lots of competitions and I’ve NEVER seen a horse bleeding from its mouth. NEVER.
If horses only bite their tongue in high level competitions something is wrong.
If they’re bleeding cause of other reasons something is wrong as well.
If a horse ‘bite their tongue’ blood shouldn’t be dripping from their mouth.
