The Shogunate

I have decided that I do plan to review the upcoming "Assassins Creed: Shadows." I know I had mentioned before that I was unsure if I would play it. I already had my own disinterest in the series and was not that excited by the trailer either. Yet given the wide number of controversies that have arisen surrounding the game, I felt it would be something worthwhile to explore more thoroughly first hand so that I could provide you all with my own thoughts. It will likely take me several weeks to play through the game/review it, so the video will not be out for some time after the game's March 20th release date.

With that said, are there any specific aspects of the game/history that you would like to see me discuss further in the review?

@Mickey-v7p

I can imagine another samurai-inspired Yakuza spinoff which would feature Kiryu as Oda Nobunaga.

Despite the backlash, I'm looking forward to your review. We need an impartial opinion about this game.

@ekekalueme

I’m actually looking forward to your review to confirm how history accurate things are in the game like armor, architecture etc..

The biggest issue with this game is that it's too little too late, we now have 3 distinct Japanese ninja/samurai open world games and despite the controversy this game seems so safe with it's choice of time and setting. Even the main source of controversy Yasuke is rather safe culture war bait. A truly bold and innovative idea would have been to set the game during Imperial Japan just before and during WW2.

The cultural inaccuracies of the game are, my hunch is, incredibly overblown and used to feed a broader culture war at the moment. I suspect the inaccuracies are much fewer and milder in their basis, or otherwise based on commonly-held misunderstandings. I would be interested in an impartial review of cultural practices that stick out to you, whether as corrections of common misunderstandings or as little-known practices or even as genuine fabrications by Ubisoft (and what they probably based it off of and why). Your video is definitely going to reach beyond your subscribers given the general interest in the series, who will likely not be privy to all the information you have provided in your large canon of content. I think a video focused on the representation of Sengoku-era Japanese culture would be wonderful and also a splendid contribution to the discourse.

@soul-man

Don't do it for clout. Your channel is about historical facts of another country's culture and history. Keep your channel educational. As you know, you will be opening a can of unnecessary worms in your comments section for no reason.

@Baybates

I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the architectural design and function of the castles within the game in comparison to reality.

@HiMentos

Looking forward to your review. It would be interesting to see if Ubisoft’s depiction of Samurai and of the different clans is faithful to reality

I would compare the battle of Honnoji- incident (if there is one) in the interpretation of ACShadows. Historically, Yasuke lived at that moment. In any case, if it doesn't, I would look at a comparison Nobunaga between ACS and SW?

Oda nobunaga

I'd like to see how you feel about the portrayal of 1570s Japan, especially against the backdrop of Oda rule. It's a place historical fiction likes to play with, so I'd like to see how you think it holds up. Also, any interesting references, allusions, or interpretations you find would be cool. I like little touches like that; maybe there's a side quest where you have to put down two warring bandit gangs and have a showdown with a gun-toting giant.

I heard the Yasuke Simulator is much more accurate

@Hanzo25389

I heard the backlash was really bad and the game was kind of poorly made?

@west_amane

I would like to hear from you about Ouchi clan, Otomo clan, Kuroda Kanbei, Takayama Ukon, relationship with the Jesuit or Catholics in general because I think it's not only Nobunaga who reach them first by giving shelter and etc. Yet I feel those names never get spotlight since AC Shadows trailers and demo..

@Brightleaf9

the only AC Shadows review I'm interested in.

I’m curious to know the story. When the game takes place, does Yasuke still serve Oda? Or is it after the Honnoji incident that he becomes assassin? Because he’s still wearing a Samurai armour. Makes sense if he’s still serving Oda, but then is he killing those who are enemies of Oda under Oda’s orders? Or he is he acting on his own after the Honnoji incident? But is he allowed to wear an Oda clan armour after Oda’s death? Killing while wearing Oda’s emblem?

@seanstamler1035

Ik it’s controversial but as ha history lover i actually like the assassins creed series. They do tend to take their own, let’s call it, “interpretation” of history but it’s never been anything outright egregious to me so far, and I play it more for the aesthetic of the setting and time period.
