How ironic, a movie just came out in theaters about her!! There was no promotion of the movie! I wonder why!!!! Go check this movie out family!!! Shoutout to the ancestors!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🔥

@kiara4bitcoin

They didn't promote it because this shows theft of land (which we knew) and black inheritance (which was stolen) and it gives credibility that we were already here (which I knew)

Ok, this is the universe reminding me to lock in. About a month or so ago, I found my great grandad's name listed on the Dawes Rolls as a newborn Creek Freedmen. So, I called the Oklahoma Historical Society to order the little packets containing your ancestors information, and it turns out his mom applied/was approved for a land allotment back in 1897. I've just been so busy that I stopped looking into the next steps of where I go from here. This is my sign to keep going 💛

I saw the movie and it’s not worth it. Typical Hollywood “YT savior complex”. No reference to them trying to reclassify her as YT. So it was not a historically accurate film.

Her home she brought still stands here in Kansas City Missouri. I am glad they didn’t tear it down. It has been several things especially a funeral home right off the 12th and Euclid.

I saw trailers. I wasn't interested. Another movie of a white savior. Also during that time, the white people were being nice to her and just wanted to help!? From my understanding of the true story they were conning her and that wasn't talked about in the movie.

Check out the book Black Fortunes by Shomari Wills. It mentions her and many other wealthy black people throughout history.

Funny how they make a movie about her and oil that later they stole.....if anything give something to her late descendants and also give them proceed from the movie

Another movie where they place immigrants to play Foundational Black Americans? Did they tell the whole story of how yt cheated her out of her land?🙄🗑

As one of grandchildren and direct descendants, I enjoyed the movie. We thought it adequately captured her personality and spirit. We are honored that her story is being told on film. Thank you!!

@AHeart2022

So she was a Creek child and not a “black” child. Got it.

My sister went to the screening in NY a few weeks back. Came home and couldn't stop talking about it. I'm definitely going to check it out.

Immigrants playing our icons' roles - no thanks!

The Cherokee nation “gave” her land. It’s still propaganda. They know we are finding out that this is our land. It’s a shame we have to be gifted something which already belonged to us. I’m so ready for them to go!

I just forward this to my mom. And she says they were giving out free tickets to seniors and movie theaters across Florida last week the day that it came out on the 12th. And I can say I did actually hear and see advertisement for the movie. I haven't had the opportunity to go but I will be going especially after reading the comments for some of the family members that are here.

There was promotion of the movie. A lot of people shared it online as well as it being commercialized on television screens. Russell and Ciara Wilson are the executive producers! As soon as I heard about it I shared it and went to the theaters to see the movie. It was a packed house at the Saturday matinee I attended opening weekend! By the way, it is a phenomenal movie. As a reminder it is still in the theaters! Go see it!!!
