Treena added significant points to her closing. I was so glad she pointed out that video from Walgreens showed Lori had on black sandals when she walked in. You could see the left one as she entered and the right one at the register. Points like this are what the jury can use to evaluate her credibility. I’m hoping for a quick verdict for the family’s sake.

I thought TK did exactly what she needed to do for the jury with a conspiracy case-meticulously methodically lay out the evidence. Lori addressed none of the blatant evidence against her -like why it took so long for 911 to be called-why as Charles lay on the floor she & Alex were talking on the phone… The timeline, texts devastate L V D’s case…..was surprised that jury left so early in the day tho

Agreed! Long + some repetitiveness but very good! I think the jury got her points! IMO Lori will be found guilty!

I thought Treena Kay's rebuttal was very good, it was a passionate rejoinder to Lori's closing. I did have to have to laugh a little at Juror 5 (I believe) when they called his number to be an alternate and he gave an exclamation of regret. Even the judge felt bad and told the alternates that they may yet have to be called to deliberate in case something happened to a juror during deliberations (such as an illness), and to remain close to their phones.

I thought she did a great job. It was long but she hit points I completely forgot about. I’m always playing devil’s advocate so I’m playing devil’s advocate so I’m scared to listen to Lori’s closing. How long do you think the verdict will take?

I wish the prosecutor had organized her argument differently. She could have shortened her presentation by flipping her pivot table, i.e. restructuring her outline. But that may have prevented her from repeating key words that she wanted to emphasize. I agree with the B, but take the + off because the AV glitches made her seem unprepared and broke the flow of her delivery.

J.D. - A Lawyer Explains
The State's Closing in the Daybell case was long, but it was detailed. It addressed the conspiracy, the intent, the motives, and the way the physical evidence did not add up. It also showed that Lori conspired with Alex and Chad using the "we got rid of him" text quite effectively. It was measured, dispassionate, nothing to raise an issue of inflammatory rhetoric. The only thing I noticed was it appeared she was looking hard at Daybell at different times, but I think I just didn't realize where she had positioned her computer for her slide show. All in all, it's strong B+ closing. I took points off for length, and failure to wrap up after the judge asked. Can't wait for Lori's rebuttal - if any.
