Has anyone successfully gotten Larvitar by Fly-Spamming Cafe Ultimo in Zone 15?

I've been hitting it HARD on two switches, trying to confirm whether or not the 50m radius has a height limit.

I'm at 25+ shinies, and only haven't gotten Larvitar, Fletchling & Panpour.

@conallkilroy

From doing the Area 3 tower a bunch I have had a couple shinies spawn in the market on the other side of the building behind it. But no shinies from the spawns on top of the building that are technically closer.

1) I think you know the answer to this. But I think respawns don't happen for Pokemon that are 20m above you. I heard that from Professor Rex, I think. 2) Is there a map tool a or a document, that shows all benches and flying locations. And what Pokemon can respawn from a 50m radius in each spot?

@Swpht

from videos I've seen, it's a 50m spawning sphere so height difference can push it out. but these are also rushed videos with minimal research so massive chunk of salt with this info

I tried the same for the Mawile on the roof of Area 9, traveling to Shutterbug Cafe. At least 2 of the Mawile spawns on the roof should have been in the 50m radius. I tried for a couple hours with no luck. So I changed my method. I got on a roof of area 9 by the Alpha Manetric and walked in and out of the Mawile's spawn range and I got my shiny after about 30 mins. In my experience I don't trust spawn ranges with roofs.

Do you know what the leash radius is? Because if you agro them and drop down they give up on fighting and teleport back up. That could give you the answer.

I've been shiny hunting with fast travel in Wild Zone 8, trying to get an alpha Drilbur. Besides my future excadrill 😔, I’ve found every other shiny except for a Pansear that spawns on top of a building near the spawn point and within the 50m radius. If there’s a height limit, that would totally explain it. Also, I’ve read about fast traveling to the café under the Dratini, but I haven’t seen any video or comment of someone actually getting it that way

Would love a video posted when you have some findings. I have had no luck with a roof spawn shiny from a ground level fly reset.

Im also doing the same as you, no larvitars so far. Got a shiny alpha of each kind, a pansear and a bunch of pumpies. No larvitar though

@batofdestiny

Are you shining hunting larvitar specifically or are you looking for them in general? I forgot they were even in the game and I caught one last night lol

I've been doing bench resets at Zone 18 on the rooftops and after 2 hours or so I had 4 shinies on the ground level around 60 meters away from the pin I placed at the bench. Unsure if bench resets are different from Fly Spam but it makes me think height isn't factored

@zeromythosver.

For annoying spawns like roofs, Kalos starters, or ones in the middle of wild areas with no bench access or visibility from where fly places you, the soft reset method might be worth considering Let night or daytime be about to fall (depends on which you need for the desired spawn), wait until the final message saying the time of day change is imminent, spam save until you’ve saved right before the day change automatic map reload happens Now just open game, watch day change, check for shiny, close game, repeat like classic soft reset hunts prior to Switch

@SuperSonic3557

I heard from somewhere that larvitar only spawns on rooftops. I never played the game but I think u might need that "extra jump" thingy from the rotom phone.

I haven’t been able to confirm if this is the case with Larvitar, but I’ve gotten other roof shinies by fast traveling to a ground location, so I’d anticipate it would work. In your most recent video you show us a bit of the method you were using at the time, where you run away (about 70m from my testing) on the roof, then run back. Would it be possible to alter this approach slightly? If the Larvitars despawn at about 70m, could we just spam run back and forth from 70m from the rooftop Larvitar location, to 50m from it back and forth quickly without having to go close enough to see the Larvitars each time? It’s a lot faster than going the full distance to check each time, but I have no way to confirm if the Larvitars are changing each time if I’m not getting close enough to where they are visible on screen.

Is the red circle the 50m range or the blue?
