HowNOT2

Remember all those dyneema splicing videos I made in the past? We’re going to be carrying all the options and testing all the things and I’m pretty excited about it. The rest of Marlows stuff should come soon but we also have 24 kilometers of HMPE ordered from 1mm to 10mm with soft shackles, loops and eye to eye in all the diameters and colors. I never would have thought it’d grow to all of this when I made “how to splice a soft shackle video” with horrible audio in 2016. Thanks for participating in the journey and have a good Christmas.

So I'm a dyneema rigger specialist, what would fascinate me is seeing how much more strength is added after you parcel and serve the dyneema. I use Samson Rope's Amsteel, and I've been parceling and serving dyneema rigs for about 7 years now, using Texas Bushcraft or SGT Knots Tarred twine #36, and canvas strips. Not only have I used this on standing rigging, but also any type of loop or strop for countless applications, creating chafe and UV resistance at a quarter of the cost of using expensive "dyneema covers". Anyway, I've got my theories about how using traditional parceling and serving affects strength but also where the weak points shift. I'd love to collaborate more, but maybe if you have a long enough length in your set, serve it with the aforementioned twine, see if you can't get your hands on a traditional serving mallet to make sure you get the tension correct, and see what happens during the break test. Disfruta amigo;)

@MitchellKuiper

It was those videos that made me find you. As a climber learning about dyneema rope you became a gold mine of content since. Appreciate all the knowledge you share and resources you provide. Time to do some late Christmas shopping I guess.
