This graphic from one of my videos shows how an earlier form of the Malay language is the root of both Standard Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia), and Standard Malay (Bahasa Melayu) used in Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore.

I think the Javanese influence on Standard Indonesian is not a direct influence because native Javanese speakers rarely mix the two languages when speaking. Rather, Javanese words enter Indonesian through Betawi, a Malay creole and the native language of Jakarta, the capital. Betawi was heavily influenced by Javanese and Sundanese due to the capital's multiethnic origins. And because it's the language of the capital, it heavily influence the spoken version of Indonesian, and some of those words find their way to the standard. To this day Betawi is practically the only regional language accepted for use by national media, because media headquarters are all in Jakarta.

Malay tribe or Suku Melayu is originated in Riau, Indonesia. They used to be a "merchant" language back then, that's why the distribution of the language was vast

Both variants are also influenced by Arabic, though Standard Malay more so than Indonesian. P.S. You wrote "Bahasa Melayu" in both parentheses when it applies to Standard Malay. Standard Indonesian is "Bahasa Indonesia".

Indonesians, Bruneians, Singaporeans, and Malaysians speak Malay. And Malay was never "wide-spread" in the Philippines before colonial times.
