Duty, Delight, Desires

It’s so easy to turn our relationship with God into a religious obligation instead of a regular opportunity to deepen our connection with Him.

When we lose delight, our entire relationship with Him becomes duty.

We start reading the Word and attending church because it’s what we’ve been taught to do, not because we enjoy it.

We pray, but it feels mechanical rather than meaningful.

We seek Him for what we can get instead of getting closer to Him

When our obedience becomes transactional—just to get something from Him instead of getting closer to Him—we miss the beauty of what He truly desires: relationship, not routine.

Let this message not serve as condemnation but as an invitation to reignite your delight:

• Pleasure over performance
• Opportunity over obligation
• Joy over “just because”

It is then that the things we do prosper because the posture of our heart desires Him more than wheat we can get from Him.

Psalm 1:2-3 (NLT),

“But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”
