Both are the best written characters with the most badass scenes it's too underrated in my opinion

I feel like they both were written how they should have been. We didn’t want to lose John but his past caught up to him and no matter how many dead shots you get off you cant escape. Arthur had an expiration date but he used it for his redemption at the end and was the more peaceful sad ending.

It’s the difference between an A and an A+, but the difference is still distinct, as the results convey

I always felt John's story was the more of the typical "Man wants to protect wife and child" story. Arthur's introspective journey as a dying man trying to do better was way more compelling. Really putting the "Redemption" in the game's title to good use.

Love them both, but man, losing arthur after all those hours spent with him felt like i lost a close friend.

John since I started playing rdr1 back in the day. Great character and good great written. Like the zombies story in rdr1 too.

Johns writing over two games is way better than Arthur’s rdr2 bias at its peak

Idk but I honestly like John more as a protagonist. Best game protagonist ever in my opinion
