This is absolutely Godzilla, and so is the animated continuation of this continuity Anything 2004 onwards however is Zilla

Godzilla 1998, Zilla (2004) was meant to be a parody of Godzilla 1998, not a "rebranding". Godzilla 1998 and Zilla are separate characters, licenses, etc.

A recent statue of this kaiju was released by Toho and Spiral Studios with the name ZILLA. So heโs Zilla. Even if the original intention was to be Godzilla. Heโs better off his own Kaiju anyway. Heโs way more interesting that way. One of my fav Kaiju!

The 1998 one is Godzilla, everything after starting in Final Wars is Zilla.

Personally, since 1998, he will always and forever just be Godzilla to me.

I Still call it Zilla most of the time just to differentiate it in conversation which works because it's such a different take on the character, but either way it doesn't matter really

Going by the trademark, this is Godzilla. The one that appears in Final Wars and Rulers of Earth is trademarked as Zilla.

Godzilla has been a lot of things, and this is one of them. It's not like any of them named themselves, is it

Legally and canonically speaking, it's still Godzilla in the '98 film and animated series. Only really lives up to the name is the latter,
