I purchased a ryobi table saw before watching reviews on it and finding out the hard way. Recently upgraded to DeWalt and it’s night and day. I have the ryobi miter saw and works just fine. Casual woodworker here.

My first power tool was a jigsaw, when covid hit I started making planter boxes out of recycled cedar fence boards with my dad's jigsaw and he got me my own 😊

My Dad bought me my first drill/drivers and a bit set when we bought our first home. That was over 20 years ago. I still have them. That started my journey and how I have tons of woodworking tools.

A Black and Decker corded jig saw. Have had it since 2018. Still use it. I got it on sale after Christmas for like $10. I've made way more than $10 on the things I've made and sold with that little saw.

My dad bought me my first drill. I had no idea what a driver was until the pandemic and started watching all of these DIY and woodworking channels and videos. I was like “WTH?! Why was I never told about these things.” I tried hanging blinds with that drill and it sucked so much. Bought a drill and driver set with only two blinds left and I was kicking myself for not having bought one sooner.

When I went off to college, my dad bought me a milwaukee (non-fuel) impact and drill set and gave me a spare craftsman socket set. He wanted to make sure that I maintained my new truck (first brand new car in the family) and helped out my sister with anything she needed, maintenance-wise(she lived near my school). This was back in 2017, and I now have almost* every tool I could want to to do woodworking and work on vehicles. * by 'almost', I mean I never have enough tools. New sale on a dewalt sander or jigsaw? I want it.

I lucked out when DeWalt had a crazy awesome sale: I got an oscillating multi tool with a 20v battery, a charger & a tool bag AND a drill and driver set that also came with larger tool bag, another battery & charger, all for $239

My table saw was first. Hubbie had smaller tools for around the house; circular saw, drills and drivers…that sort of thing. I bought my own of those as I made money.

I really have no memory of buying tools. All mine have been handed down or my husband's. The first tool we bought together was a router and table.
