If you could know the absolute truth about one thing, but it would change how you permanently see the world, would you still want to know? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

This is also the paradox of freedom and if the truth really sets you free. A rat that realizes he’s in a cage is still a rat in a cage.

"ignorance is bliss" is quoted for a reason. the more you know and actually understand, the harder it is to feel comfortable with the world around you, simplicity becomes more attractive, ignorance becomes a luxury, and silence becomes priority. I'm not saying I don't want to know anything, but I'd rather not know too much.

I would rather be sad with knowledge than to be a happy fool.

After everything that I’ve learned about the world (and I know nothing) I’ve noticed that no matter how badly I wanna know more and search for more that I most likely am not ready for the absolute truth. That is the human experience.

Regardless of how much the truth hurts, you’ll recover from it. But the longer you live a lie, the more painful the truth will be when it finally comes out

Yes, as long as “the cost” doesn’t mean “the means of getting the truth” That’s why we need ethics in science experiments

I already feel this way about some things. I feel like seeing the truth is mostly about the willingness to accept it. Most people prefer to live in blissful ignorance and they defend their beliefs as if their survival depends on it. This is why i can’t relate to most humans.

@IsaacFoster..

Reading the Selfish Gene changed how I see people entirely but I don't regret it. I'd probably feel the same if I knew more.

Many truths have already changed the way I see the world. The genie doesn't go back in the bottle.

This poll discusses the exact reason why the world is currently in human turmoil. Despite what people have seemed to answer… they don’t want the objective truth. Because even if it’s negative, it’s never anyone’s first priority.

I think there's an afterlife, so I'm expecting an enormous disillusionment then. But I don't think there are many more surprises to be discovered until then. I mean, we are destroying the planet after all. I have no more questions about the human race.

The problem is with the question assumption of the truth because we assume the truth is something binary or dual. In reality the truth is everything so realising truth means there's nothing else left to realise. As a consequence there would be nothing else to fear worry wonder love because you would be the embodiments of everything there is

I've known Absolute Truths, I just don't remember them. Yet I've still made astounding improvements after discovering and forgetting them. It's a lot to hold close always.

Ask this question to me a 5, maybe 10 years ago and I would've answered that the truth is worth it. Now though, I care less about the ultimate truth or the answers to the universe's biggest mysteries. I focus more on what matters: friends, my family, my colleagues and living the life I want to live with them. My singular purpose in life is to simply be kind and make the world (well, our little worlds, in my patch of grass) a bit better each day. I like to think that the world would be so much better if everyone did the same.

I feel like there isn't a truth depressing enough for me not to want to know it out of sheer curiosity. I mean, if knowing about animal torture, elderly and child abuse, slavery, people literally starving to death, helpless people's organs being stolen, and I don't even know what else doesn't move me unless I pretend to be interested, allowing myself to be overflown by melancholy as I imagine a fraction of what the experience might feel like, then I'm not sure what else there is that might be so bad that I wouldn't want to know it just because

Nancy Pelosi’s radical democrats are responsible for the shutdown because they are insisting on spending $2.1 TRILLION, more than half the entire federal budget, on healthcare for illegals. We must reject continued healthcare funding and demand an end to the radical democrat shutdown!

The truth will always set you free. If we are getting the absolute truth about something, that requires us receiving the proper context of understanding in order to completely grasp the truth. While incomplete truth can hurt or trap you, the fullness of truth is ultimately what is most freeing.
