I’m just going to qualify something as I’ve seen a few comments - this study does not exclude ace spec folks. Currently dating is a requirement for the specific area they are researching. It is not a reflection on anyone’s perceptions of queer validity based on whether you do or do not date! Simply a specific topic this team is looking at in terms of parent support. Additionally some ace spec people do date (/have relationships/get married). Queer platonic relationships exist too ☺️ ❤

This sucks for aroace youth… why is it like that? You’d think dating wouldn’t be a requirement since anyone (whether in a relationship or not) could benefit in family support but I guess it’s for the study? That’s sorta weird to me ngl

DISCLAIMER: since i made this comment i became well aware of how i (as well as others) were reading into things too much. I am well aware of how and why everything is the way it is now. I wont delete this comment tho just add this disclaimer I am happy to read that I am not the only one who has a problem with the "are dating" requierment. It really gives one the idea that it says that only if you prove your sexuality by dating then you are "truly queer" or something like that. Such things were what made me unsure of my bisexuality for quite some time as I also am aromantic. Of course i cant "prove" my bisexuality by having romantic feelings for people of both binary genders since i havent ever had romantic feelings for anyone.

As you know the Angry Orange Man withdrew a lot of funding from organisations who have been researching important issues that affect our community. But luckily the HFBF had their project’s funding restored, and now they need people to get involved!
