Brian Holdsworth

I just had a great conversation with @NontraditionalCatholic, a former traditional Catholic, over on his YouTube Channel. We discussed the advantages and dangers of Catholics living in bubbles, the toxic elements within trad communities, the euro-centrism of the faith, and more. @AntonAchondoa

In my view, Brian's appearance astronomically boosted his credibility as a thoughtful Catholic willing to engage in good faith with people outside his tribe. He has raised the bar for what it means to be a Catholic content creator and he is at his best when he faces tough questions at a slower paced, reflective manner in long for videos. Go Brian! Go Kevin!

Non-trads are like a box of chocolates. Never know what you're gonna get.

Brian, this was a great conversation - I listen to Kevin's show a lot you had a lot of thoughtful things to say.

I think it's the case that everyone has something that they could potentially teach you, even if it's not something that they would have intended to convey to you. Also, what hope do you have of winning someone over if you are not genuinely interested in what they have to say and show your interest in listening, even if you're unlikely to agree with them on much? There is only one measure that matters in regard to God's people, which is holiness, closeness to God's heart. If you find yourself incapable of conveying, in charity, what about speaking in good faith with someone with whom you disagree, about the topics listed, is out of keeping with holiness, then perhaps it would be best not to comment to that effect until you are able to do so. Brian, I hope that the best that could come from the conversation came indeed.

@UncleKlausSchwab

Odd way to define oneself in the negative, a tad passive aggressive.

Euro centric? Toxic? Two words Dave Gordon.

I love the fact that the critics seemingly can’t understand the value of getting out of your own echo chamber and they also fail to see why you’d want to identify why one who left your “tribe” might have valid reasons that you should address for the good of your children and community.

How can the traditional Catholic faith be "euro-centric" when it's the African bishops and faithful who are speaking up most powerfully for orthodox, traditional Catholic doctrine?

@minorityvoice9253

Liberal use of the word traditional, to reject tradition is to reject wosdom.

“Euro centrism” sounds awful . No thanks

Seriously asking: what do we, as the viewers of a Catholic YouTube channel, have to do with a conversation with a non Catholic?

We should be discussing how to bring our Church back together! I have experienced toxic trads and toxic novus ordos! We should all want traditions of the Church passed down and better taught! My husband and I went to a Diocean TLM Parish when we first got married and we saw the clicks and problems and now have to attend our local Novus Ordo Parish which has its own set of problems! It's very scary! Being a couple still ttc and have a family is not welcomed by either side! We get bullied, picked on, told we aren't praying enough or are not praying the right prayers/Novena etc! So both sides have something to work on as do we since we are all sinners!! I love the beautiful Traditine Latin Mass, but rather not be bullied after the Mass or made to feel unloved or cursed!! Prayers for the Church to be united in 1 faith!!

The moniker “nontrad Catholic” is an interesting contradiction in terms. I’m curious. How can a proper Catholic in all good conscience separate himself from tradition? Why would anyone want to? 55 years of nontrad Catholicism has decimated the church. It’s the reason so many of us have turned “trad”. We’re only reclaiming what was purposefully left behind.

I love your content, but I'll sit this one out. I hear enough non-traditional "Catholics" talk about how toxic we are all the time.
