The moment they heard themselves being referred to as "muggles" I think mass panic would ensue.

I think it’s crazy that peace is losing so badly. The world governments already know that magic exists. There’s probably a file in every “head of state”’s desk labeled “Broken Masquerade scenario instructions”

If the Wizarding world was real, I very highly doubt they'd be able to keep it secret no matter how much magic they used.

I’m thinking something like the Second Inquistion from Vampire the Masquerade.

Mass panic leading into several witch hunts across the globe bc not everyone will be sensible about it

I'm of the mind that if Harry Potter magic/society were suddenly proven to be real, there's be a LOT of animosity to the wizards and witches who sat by for all these years not using magic to make a post scarcity world a reality. Magic in HP is genetic, theres no reason everyone (other than unlucky squibs) by this point shouldn't have the capability to perform magic other than elitism and gatekeeping.

Definitely war. Although there would be many who would want to integrate wizards or their practices with society peacefully, magic would ultimately be seen by people already in power as a weapon. One which needs to be considered as ethier an asset, a security risk or both. Because magic is something you can only be born with or take from someone else who was, it would lead to experimentation on live, likely unwilling subjects or a sort of arms race to be the first to lay claim to the wizards themselves. This always leads to mistakes and misunderstandings.. and those lead to fear. War or subjugation usually follows fear. That said, I think wizards would lose an all out war.. their culture has been stagnant and regressive. Their numbers also seem to be dwindling still. In the middle ages and early colonial times, the two groups (muggles and wizards) were on more equal footing technologically than they are now. Assuming the statute of secrecy fails, they would need to do something equally clever to survive or be rather decisive in their early actions, in order to hopefully catch muggles off guard.

If what the wizarding world do to muggles came out in public… jack shit would happen. The rich people would get richer as they made trade deals and such, and the people actually affected negatively would still get oppressed by the wizards.

If the muggle world learned about the wizarding world in a way that couldn't be reversed (some mass televised event, millions of people watching), what would the response be?
