No, they are completely, 100% necessary. The Commander-In-Chief of the military should get into shape.

Retired enlisted man. Here I have a good friend that retired several years after I did.As a 1st sgt I remember many discussions and him telling me I would not recognize the army today as the army that I left the standards were in the toilet.Tells me that this general offering his opinion is a little bit disconnected, and of course this is my opinion.

Hegseth should have to submit to random alcohol screenings

Kegseth is just a punk. He knows it. He knows the Generals don’t respect him, so he did that stunt to try and assert his power, but it still doesn’t change anything. He is still a punk.

And he bigly supported Harris, so his judgement should be questioned.

Sounds as though him being in military leadership is "Completely unnecessary".

Yet we can pull up all the statements from Democrats saying the exact same thing since 1994???

The generals and admirals absolutely hate the policy, the enlisted ranks either love it or dont care

It was completely necessary. The fact that you, they think you are above it, was the whole point. Generals are not above it. They service the people.

The opinions of these senior leaders is wrought with hubris, haughtiness, and disdain for a junior officer who is now the civilian leader for the armed forces. If SECWAR was a retired GO/FO, they wouldn’t publish their “opinions”.

I don’t know why this popped up in my feed but I’m glad it did so I can block face the nation. What a lame show.

This comment section is kind of ridiculous, most four star generals are 60-70 years old because of how long it takes to get promoted, you’re not gonna send a top military leader who’s 70 to the very frontlines where he’ll just get shot by some 20 year old enemy, he’s there to outsmart the enemy by guiding the other troops in maneuvers not to shoot people himself, sides not like Trump or Pete Hegseth would ever do their own dirty work anyway

I'll take the opinion of a retired 3 star general (38 years in active duty) over a nincompoop TV Talkshow Host and nasty guardsmen any day.
