All right, we now have the episode titles and their order for the re-imagined Walking With Dinosaurs. And I f* called it: the episodes will NOT be presented chronologically.

So that pretty much settles once and for all that this version of WWD will not be about the history and evolution of dinosaurs like the first one, but completely isolated stories with no overarching narrative between them. I think this is a nice change of pace overall, as much as I would've enjoyed a seeing the oversaturated animals of Hell Creek get incinerated by an indifferent space nuke. But no, Hell Creek is where this series kicks off:

[spoiler? synopsis from the PBS website]

Episode 1: “The Orphan"
Sixty-six million years ago, an orphaned baby Triceratops roamed the lush world of Laramidia, alone and vulnerable. Stalked by the fearsome Tyrannosaurus Rex, the youngster relied on her wits and diminutive size to survive. Today, paleontologists in Montana are uncovering her fossils, allowing us to imagine her life and the dangers she faced. Stunning VFX [lawl] recreate her encounters, from escaping a giant Pterosaur to a heart-stopping face-off with T. rex, bringing her story vividly to life.

Episode 2: "The River Dragon"
North Africa, 100 million years ago, a Spinosaurus father must embark on a dangerous voyage to feed his babies. To reach his destination he must lead his young family across one of the deadliest environments in Earth’s history: a land crawling with ferocious predators. At the end of their journey, an extraordinary feast awaits – if he can run the gauntlet without his babies becoming someone else’s meal.

Episode 3: "Band Of Brothers"
Utah, 130 million years ago, a band of armored dinosaurs battle to reach adulthood, pursued by a group of Utahraptors: one of the most formidable predators that’s ever lived. It’s a deadly game of cat and mouse that pits heavy armor against vicious claws and lethal cunning. A life-and-death struggle that builds to a final showdown amongst the flames of a burning forest.

Episode 4: "The Pack"
Seventy-one million years ago lived a teenage Albertosaurus, a faster, nimbler relative of T. rex. She must earn her place in a deadly, ferocious pack or risk starvation. Today, paleontologists in Western Canada are unearthing her remains, allowing us to imagine her story. Based on real-world evidence, stunning VFX recreate her encounters, from hunting pterosaurs, to fighting the dominant matriarch and battling for survival in the brutal late Cretaceous world.

Episode 5: "Enemies Assemble"
Evidence from a dramatic discovery in Canada reveals the epic story of one of the largest dinosaur herds that ever lived, the Pachyrhinosaurus and one of its youngest members. To find enough food to survive, this close relative of Triceratops must embark on a grueling 400-mile migration across hostile wilderness. On their trail is the vicious, pack-hunting Gorgosaurus. But the greatest threat of all awaits at the end of their journey… a cataclysmic storm that threatens the herd’s very survival.

Episode 6: "Island of Giants"
Island of Giants tells the tale of one of the largest dinosaurs ever to walk the earth, a colossal long-necked Lusotitan. Living 150 million years ago on an island known as the Iberian Mesta, now Portugal, this 25-meter-long titan dwarfs every other dinosaur in the region. Yet his intimidating size is only part of the story. His ultimate goal is to win over a female and secure his legacy. It’s a quest that will see him embark on an epic journey as he risks his life for love.

@NotesFromTheVoid

It would have been kindof neat to do it in reverse order, but that would work better if they had at least one Triassic episode.

Honestly this sounds more like Dinosaur Planet than WWD, which is somewhat unfortunate. However I'm looking forward to a few of these episodes (the ones which aren't based based in late Cretaceous north America 😅

Despite the flaws with the CGI in places or difference between the original series and the new one I am still looking forward to watching it

Band of Brothers and Island of Giants sound the most interesting to me

Huh... Didn't expect Gorgosaurus to make a reappearance in the Walking with Series but it'd be interesting to see if it looks similar to the Albertosaurus as they are in the same family Albertosaurinae (unless it's in the first trailer but neither of us who saw it realized it might've made an appearance). As for the episode listing, while it's a bit of a shame we aren't going from 150-66 million years ago in order, I somewhat don't mind it. This is mainly a tribute to the original series and is doing something different than the prior shows in the same franchise (minus Sea Monsters and Prehistoric Park as they somewhat go backwards and forwards in time throughout the Phanerozoic Eon in terms of the time periods and respective points in said time periods for Prehistoric Park's case).

Cool, yeah, sounds very Dinosaur Planet. I’m not fussed though, it tells me it’s not meant for us who grew up with the original. Character driven stories that stay accurate to the real subjects are exactly what we need to get kids interested in the natural sciences. A lot of us seem to forget that we had a lot of options, original Jurassic park, original WWD, Dinosaur planet, when dinosaurs roamed America, PaleoWorld etc. to get us hooked on dinosaurs. Kids today deserve the same 🤷

You know, even though it's not comped in perfectly, this has to be one of my favorite models for T.Rex in a paleodocumentary that I've seen. It's sufficiently bulky, the facial ornamentation is very well done, and I can even see some homages to the original WWD rex in some of the color choices. Even though Prehistoric Planet was fantastic, this rex seems a bit closer to how I'd imagine it would look, especially with the facial integument. We'll see how it actually looks in action, but at least the model is nice.

Guess Surviving Earth is more likely to be the real successor to the original series. This might be a perfectly serviceable documentary series. But it isn’t living up the name and pedigree of Walking With Dinosaurs

Absolutely amazing! Personally I can’t wait for the spinosaurus one.

Interesting. At this point I just hope they've got Habrosaurus.

@miquelescribanoivars5049

It makes sense from a marketing stand point that they would open with the most famous dinosaurs and location. Also, Pipestone Creek's tyrannosaur is Gorgosaurus, not Alberto!?

Three episodes on late Cretaceous North American is a bit too much for me, especially with so much else to explore

I like the (lawl) you added, lets hope wwd 2.0 has a good narrative 🤞

I very much prefer this to the original format; it completely throws away the issues with grand narrative (namely entire lineages and ecosystems being intentionally misrepresented as “inferior”) caused by the format of the original series.
