Here's funny note, Mashal Plaek Phibunsongkharm always refer to himself as "Marshal P." Because his name Plaek mean weirdo,strange,freak Which it's what their parents named him for his appearance which he hated it That's why later in life when he became successful he prefer to be called Marshal P.

Wow. I never knew that Thailand became... well, Thailand in 1939! I expected it to be in like the 19th century because of how well Siam stood up against colonialism.

I got it right not because I knew it but I knew a lot of countries changed names and borders around that era in general. The times after WW1 and the falling dynasties of empires led to a lot of changes.

As a thai, I prefer Siam. It has history. It has culture. Thailand is a name used because a fascist in power wanted to "westernize" us.
