I do the fun and charitable parts of Christmas, not the celebration of the start of a needless blood sacrifice to please a psycho sky daddy.

It’s not even originally a Christian holiday, they stole it and rebranded it for themselves 🤣

They stole the holiday and made it about themselves, like alot of other fun things

As an atheist, I enjoy the fun secular parts of Christmas and ignore the goof religious parts. The weird magic baby is a distraction from Santa Claus.

Here in Finland we call christmas "joulu", which comes from the word yule. So I will happily celebrate joulu!

We have a tree, because I love Yule. We throw a Saturnalia party. Done with Christians. Done with Christmas.

My home has an atheist, an agnostic, a spiritualism leaner, a ‘kinda Taoist’, and someone who just wants presents to hand out. So we celebrate family on Christmas ☺️ nothing more necessary.

It was originally a pagan celebration so Christians have no monopoly over it.

I find it extremely sad that businesses can close for days in December for some 'religious holiday' but can't close for one day in November in order to cast our votes.

I remembered being a catholic kid and being good friends with a Muslim kid across the street. We started talking about the holidays coming up and he talked about the gifts he was wanting for Christmas. Being an ignorant kid, I was confused as all hell and asked him how he can celebrate that if he's not Christian. He was confused too and mentioned his family just liked the holiday with Santa and the presents and joy etc. Kinda opened my eyes in a way. People don't gotta celebrate the entirety of holidays, sometimes they can just do the festivities cause they're fun.

they shove it into everyone's faces for 2 damn months, they've got no right to then try and claim ownership of it when they make it IMPOSSIBLE to avoid for 60+ days

Yule was present long before Christians claimed it. In my country we did not change the name of that holiday to anything "christ" - like.

I enjoy spending time with family, eating good food, and giving/receiving presents. None of that requires religion, just a good time.

I mean for crying out loud... Christmas, Yule, Hannuka, Saturnalia, Hogswatch,...it's just us people celebrating the passing of the seasons. That's it! No excuses or justifications needed!

I know it might be different in america, but, here in Germany, there is hardly anything christian left in "christmas". Our term for it, "Weihnacht" (and "Heiligabend" for christmas eve) doesn't even have the word christ in it (though our words for blessed and holy, but those aren't unique to christianity). Some people still go to church for christmas, but that is getting less and less every year. Today, for most of us, it's a holiday defined by a) stuff the christians originally stole from other cultures, like the tree, and b) stuff that companies invented for it, like santa. Even christmas songs these days are more often pop songs than not. Christmas isn't just for christians here, because there is literally nothing christian left in it for most of us (at least nothing anyone would recognize as such. I'm sure some stuff we hang on our tree as decoration goes back to some obscure middle ages christian thing...but no one cares)

Not being from a Christian background, I think I love the gift giving, the hot cocoa a d marshmallows, the cozy homes decorated, the big trees and ornaments (my fav are the Star attek Hallmark ornaments) and the snow ❄️ on the streets giving a very beautiful and idyllic image of the season that I have watched in tv shows, movies and even vlogs. None of it is because of any religion.

Nice thing about being non-religious you get to celebrate whatever aspects of whatever holidays you want while ignoring the parts you don't. Happy holidays y'all.

All myths should be "celebrated" if a person wants to. If nothing else many people get a paid day off!!!
