If you had to choose your favorite Legacy of Kain protagonist, who would it be? Let me know why in the comments 😀

@strictlyfantasy

At the time of me looking at this post again, it's 50/50. Perfectly balanced as it should be 😌

Tbh I love both characters. Both Kain and Raziel's character development within the series left us with a huge impact on how well written the series is, including the rest of the characters within the world of Nosgoth ( humans, other Vampires, Hylden, demons etc...). Not to mention, some of the lore they piece together within the games prior to the game's storyline and at the current plot they're dealing with, which gave us more knowledge of the world of Nosgoth and its culture. As well as the exceptionally high quality voice acting from the actors and actresses, and the gameplay mechanics they implemented at the time, made a huge impact to us playing the game with such recognisable characters of an underrated video-game gems, such as Kain and Raziel, which is why I struggle to pick just one of them as both of them are my favourite childhood video-game characters. 😅

I like how both characters lead with understanding but willing to do what it takes.

@Raziel2696

I love raziel because even after everything he went through, he still chose integrity in sacrificing himself, something kain chose not to in the same position when he was given the choice to save nosgoth. raziel the selfless hero 🙏🏽

Raziel was how I got introduced to the series but Kain is where it's at. Still one of the best villain protagonists ever written, with a stellar voice performance by Simon Templeman to bring him to life.

Kain is the one that started me off on the path and watching him go from Arrogant fletcheling vampire to Wise and cunning Lord is a thrilling ride

@Kaiju-Driver

His inability to see how he was manipulated time and time again resonated with me in my youth.

It's a tough choice, but I'm going with Kain. His stubborn determination to get that coin to land on its edge is inspiring. And his voice and mannerism are exquisite. I love listening to him describe things in the first LoK Blood Omen.

For me it's Raziel, he was the one who really introduced me to the franchise of LOK. Despite namesake I think I prefer hearing about Kain from Raziel's perspective more almost likened to you witnessing this Legacy of Kain in past tense. Plus Raziel looks cooler especially as a wraith, Kain's awesome too but Raziel is way cooler.

Raziel is an amazing character The original Blood Omen drew me in when I started But Soul Reaver was one I always appreciate because the story & the voice acting behind it such as Michael Bell(Raziel) I had meet & greet with Him, He's a real awesome guy to talk to, He played in Cartoons like the original Rugrats, Transformers, Voltron & Smurfs; Anna Gunn from Breaking Bad plays(Ariel)

though the pillars have been broken and the chosen child abandoned its destiny balance still remains. this score is putting a smile on my face

Both are great. But Kain has a special place in my heart.

Its kinda hard to rationalize kain as a protagonist. His character development puts him all across the spectrum, whereas Raziels motivations seem to more oriented towards restoring both himself and nosgoth with a fair bit of revenge mixed in. Maybe I'll feel differently when the coffee kicks in.

Oh wow, I didn't expect this to be a genuine 50/50 split. Even though I voted for Kain, I'm glad to see there are just as many Raziel fans out there.

@Kujakuseki01

Kain, because he had a mission that was more than just revenge, and a weight on his shoulders to try to save Nosgoth beyond all odds. It’s also a fun narrative choice to have the seeming villain from SR, who heel turned after BO, turn out to actually be reluctantly doing his evil deeds because destiny forced him to for a long game of redeeming the pillars. It’s great when a story can somehow flop the script and make the villain a protagonist, but also show you that he had been one all along, even if we didn’t see it.

@monkeybone1080

Kain was damned from birth and fated to die for manipulators, instead he challenged fate to save Nosgoth his own way and through his defiance he made the coin land upon its edge.

Tbh both characters a just perfectly written in every way but Kain to me just felt to me so real he wanted to survive and surpass his destined fate to change the way the wheel of fate turned

@Zedsanji

It’s hard to pick either but I started my delve into legacy of Kain with raziel, so he’ll always have a place in my favorites

@ragedragonlion

Kain knew he had all odds against him and was still willing to bet on chance, that makes him my favorite. Raziel got caught lackin at every turn.

This was a tough one for me, it's like what's your favorite part of a PB&J. Does it matter? They go so well with each other. It's because 9f one, the other shines, vice versa.
