I know I talk about Dazais relationship with women a lot on my channel- but it’s because I genuinely think it’s a topic that isn’t talked about enough. More specifically the nurse scene. For starters Im sure we’ve all seen the amount of “I wish I was the nurse” “Dazai must be so good in bed” “the nurse was so lucky” comments that get made (mostly on the TikTok side of the fandom).
I know there is a lot of controversy around whether or not this could be considered SA, but in the end nothing can change the fact that it was ethically wrong & the nurse is the one who holds the most blame. She was his NURSE & he was her PATIENT. Just moments prior she told Dazai that he should be resting after surgery (he was also still hooked up to the IV), only to then go back and ask him if they can do it again. So while it was likely Dazai who initiated it, it’s the nurses responsibility to say ‘no’. Yes, Dazai knew exactly what he was doing, heck it’s canon he does this often. However that doesn’t mean the nurse was ‘manipulated’ into doing it with him (she’s a grown a woman & should know better then to agree to any s3xual acts with a patient). In my personal opinion, Asagiri added this scene as just as a way to joke about how much of a womanizer Dazai is, however-even if executed a bit poorly-it does showcase how easily Dazai is to resort to using his body if need be.
One last thing I wanted to point out is how the fandom (again mostly the TikTok side) makes Dazai out to be some submissive wh0re & no I am not kidding, I saw a TikTok vid saying they wish the other characters would “have their way with Dazai & then pass him around” & just overall heaps of posts saying he’s a wh0re. First of all, he’s not “submissive” Infact he’s a very passively assertive person & just because he isn’t swearing/acting violent 24/7 doesn’t means he’s a submissive twink. And calling him a wh0re (also that’s not the correct use of the word ‘wh0re’ since Dazai isn’t a s3x worker, the correct word would be ‘s/ut’…) just waters down what I talked about before with him using his body for personal gain & probably temporary pleasure (look I’m not gonna sit here & say that he isn’t one, because he is a womanizer & is very promiscuous- but the way the fandom handles it is it just wrong). You can be a multishipper but saying “he should get passed around & let others have their way with him” is kinda weird imo.
There’s a limit between s3xualization & f3tishization.
