Knot Master

Growing up on a farm, I had the privilege of spending my childhood with many animals—cows, sheep, and a group of magnificent gray stallions. Among them was one horse that stood out, my childhood companion: Hammer. I’d race through the fields every day, with Hammer beneath me, feeling the wind in my hair and the freedom of the ride.

One thing that has always stayed with me from those days is the knot my father taught me to tie. It was the knot I used to secure Hammer, and at the time, I never knew its name. It wasn’t until about ten years ago that I discovered it’s called the Kalmyk Loop. And let me tell you, I’ve tied it thousands of times. It’s been a part of my life in ways I never imagined.

So, if you ask me about my favorite knot, there’s no doubt—it’s the Kalmyk Loop. It holds not just the rope, but the memories of a childhood well-lived, and a bond with a horse that I’ll never forget.

Now, Who’s ready to learn the Kalmyk Loop together?
