Yes, but I was also in historical ones and even extraterrestrial places. Usually I'm in Hungary. Somerimes the place is unknown. One time it was a fictional country, its flag like Cambodia but with no building, the colors were reversed and it was communist. And of course, worlds from shows or movies. I was also on another planet one time, watching three Earths on the sky. Other places I remember: Feudal Japan North Korea Russia Germany N-zi Germany USA People's Republic of China An African tribal village That's all I remember now.

Yes, I dreamed once that I was in: France – In December 2016, I traveled by TGV high-speed train from Mulhouse to Paris Gare de Lyon and reached a speed of 300 km/h on the LGV Sud Est high-speed line. I was traveling with my family at the time to visit relatives in Paris. Italy – During my visit to Milan, I saw both of Milan's main train stations, Milano Centrale and Milano Porta Garibaldi, and I saw both the Italian Frecciarossa high-speed train and the French TGV (which only operates between Paris and Milan). taken back at likely spring 2017. Spain – One early morning in Spain, shortly before arriving at my destination, I saw a five-car Renfe Media Distancia (medium-distance) train of the 449 series pass by at a speed of 80 km/h. We were traveling parallel, me in the car on the road and the train on the tracks. This was probably in July 2020 (before the COVID-19 pandemic), (a time when I had completed my two-year vocational training and started a full-time job with 100% working hours – the best time of my life). Netherlands – In July 2019, during my short holiday in the Netherlands (I had graduated in August 2018, which was truly the best time of my life), I saw the two oldest double-decker trains (NS DDAR and NS DDM-1), both coupled with an NS 1700 series electric locomotive, at Amsterdam Centraal station. Germany - when I was in Germany, I was in Cologne and Düsseldorf, visiting some sightseeings, and also travelled with Thalys high speed train from Cologne to Düsseldorf. United Kingdom – In 2014, when I visited Essex or Colchester in the UK, I imagined myself being in Denmark, even though I knew perfectly well that I was in Colchester, in East Anglia, in the UK. And I saw vehicles driving on the left side of the road instead of the right (as is customary in Great Britain, while on mainland Europe one drives on the right), and in another dream, I traveled nonstop from Paris to London in October 2017 on a Class 373 Eurostar train at a speed of 300 km/h on the British side (High Speed 1, the line between Ashford and London St. Pancras, without any stops). Canada – While relaxing in Toronto, I saw some of my fellow students there, and in another dream I once had, I was in Toronto in December 2023 and saw that the oldest TTC subway cars, the Hawker Siddeley H6, were still in service. When I read the news, it said that the TTC H6 cars were scheduled to be decommissioned after 40 years of service, from their manufacture in 1986 to their last retirement in 2026. USA – At night in Newark, New Jersey, during a week-long vacation in the USA in April 2020 (without the COVID-19 pandemic), I saw old New Jersey Transit Comet cars in operation at the train station, the Comet III cars with the ALP 44 electric locomotive, which were still running in April 2020. And I read a news report that these trains were scheduled to be decommissioned at the end of 2020. Hungary – During my stay in Hungary, I traveled around Budapest using public transport (buses, trams, and suburban trains) and visited several sights. Turkey – I traveled overnight from Ankara to Istanbul on the Turkish high-speed train TCDD. We departed Ankara at 1:00 a.m. and arrived in Istanbul at 5:30 a.m. From there, I went to Istanbul Airport to catch my Turkish Airlines flight back to Nice, France (in December 2024). Russia – When I was in Moscow, it was extremely cold, and the public transport schedules work just like in the West (like in Switzerland). Iran – On my flight from Colombo to New York City via Dubai, the Emirates aircraft had to make an emergency landing in Tehran during the overnight flight from Dubai to New York's JFK airport due to an engine malfunction. We were asked to disembark briefly and were informed that we would be transferred to another aircraft flying from Tehran to Vienna. There, we would be accommodated in a hotel before continuing our journey directly to New York City the following day. India - During my two-week holiday in India, I went to a restaurant and ate delicious mutton biryani there. And many more. (can't tell anymore because it would be too long to write).

Have you ever had a dream that you were in a foreign country?
For me: Yes, it happened to me certain times. Most recently, I had a dream last night, in which I found myself in Bangkok, Thailand 🇹🇭. But I also had other dreams, in which I found myself in other countries, such as in Spain 🇪🇸 (Madrid), Russia 🇷🇺 (Moscow), Myanmar 🇲🇲, Vietnam 🇻🇳, Zimbabwe 🇿🇼, India 🇮🇳, USA 🇺🇸, a country that was a mixture of Germany 🇩🇪 and Poland 🇵🇱. I also found myself once in North Korea 🇰🇵(Pyongyang + I even met Kim Jong Un there, don't ask me how it was possible 😬).
However, whenever I had a dream, in which I was in a foreign country, the places I saw there and walked to were just distorted images of landscapes and cities, which had little or nothing to do with their actual appearance.
In most of the cases, we usually find ourselves in hybrid landscapes in our dreams.
The reason for this is because our brains don't store exact ,,pictures" of places. Instead, they store fragments - features, impressions and emotional associations. The dreaming brain — particularly during REM sleep — shows reduced activity in areas responsible for logic and spatial coherence (like the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex). As a result, your brain freely mixes unrelated memories and sensory impressions: a street from your hometown might blend with a building from a movie or a vacation photo.
