Being a raging alcoholic until I was 26 that does a number to your finances. I'm glad nobody let me have a credit card/loan.

I wish I would’ve known to make more money in my 20s. I did all the budgeting, trying to save and no guru said anything about making MORE money. At a certain income level, you just can’t cut anymore and need to find a way to make more $$$.

Had a lot of money saved up but was all in regular checking. Eventually was able to get hysa and also invest in the s&p500. Luckily didn’t go to university college

I was working on the family farm. Great times, wonderful memories, a chance to work with my parents as an adult. But there wasn't much money. I should have started in on a different career earlier than I did I suppose. But it ended up ok and those memories have a lot of value as well. So all in all I wouldn't change anything even if I could. Thank heavens I avoided getting into debt.

I could, and in hindsight should, have started saving way sooner. But there were circumstances that caused me to eat every dime I made. My own computer repair company would not come off the ground in 1992 (not enough personal computers), my day job as administrator at the dairy factory took most days 10 hours or more (especially when the matrix printer messed up) and every spare dime was going into getting my company off the ground. By the end of 1992 my company signed a contract with an MVP and I got a lot more income. A year later, I sold my company to that company and became an employee again. I was contracted to a large international client in the Netherlands, and in 1997 I decided that I would move to Canada on a work visa. I liked it here so much and stayed after I got the paperwork done (which in 1997 was much easier than today), when I moved to Canada I had a nice sum of money in reserve so that was the start of my saving / investments. I am advising anyone to start investing or saving as early as possible. Next year I hopefully retire. Debt free and enough to live with my wife.

Got married to the wrong woman. We built an empire together. Then she tore it down brick by brick. I am rebuilding, a homeowner again, never imagined this at 42. But, I am laser focused and right back on trajectory again.

Solo: Buying a brand new car I couldn't afford. Out of my control: being SA'd and now paying $2000/month child support.

Bad partner. Not knowing to invest my Roth IRA even though I was living extremely frugal to max the contributions each year.
