RIP Toots, we were so sad when he passed recently. And all the Maytals were just awesome as well.

Got to see them in Clapham about 10 or 15 years ago and they were all still fantastic. It has to be medically impossible to listen to ska and be in a bad mood. Love it ❤

Una de mis bandas favoritas. Tuve el privilegio de verlos en concierto, una fiesta, pura energía...me siento afortunado. Gracias 🙏🏼❤️

Um dia jogando "Tony Hawks Project 8", me deparei com a musica "Time Tough" do Toots and the Maytals. Nessa época eu já gostava muito de Reggae, e descobrir essa banda foi mais uma baita novidade para mim. De lá para cá eles não saem mais da minha playlist. O ano era 2010, Cidade de Arapiraca estado de Alagoas, Brasil! Give thanks for the greats songs, and good vibrations TOOTS!

Trojan Records Official
This week’s Artist of the Week is one of Jamaica’s most legendary trios - The Maytals!
Fronted by the iconic Frederick ‘Toots’ Hibbert, who would be celebrating his birthday today, the group helped shape the sound of reggae over six decades. Their groundbreaking work with Leslie Kong’s Beverley’s Records in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s gave us timeless classics like '54-46 That’s My Number', 'Monkey Man', and 'Do the Reggay'.
With hits such as 'Sweet And Dandy', 'Pressure Drop', and 'Night And Day', The Maytals’ influence is impossible to overstate. 'Monkey Man' even became one of Trojan Records’ first UK chart successes, bringing reggae into the mainstream.
All their classics are waiting for you here: Trojan.lnk.to/EACMaytals
