🇺🇸 Happy 248th Birthday America! 🇺🇸 During a recent visit to Chicago, I was taken by the large American flag hanging at one end of The Great Hall. Seated underneath the flag and throughout The Great Hall was a wonderful assortment of different people who I didn't photograph in respect for their privacy but who collectively represent the diversity that makes America stand out amidst the World's other Nations. America for all its sometimes embarrassing short-comings still rises far above the rest in its quest to seeking Freedom for those wishing to embrace its ideals boldly set forth in its Declaration of Independence and The United States Constitution. Even those precious documents containing their legacy slights and bigotries to other races, civilizations, beliefs and self-identities as context of the times in which they were originally written shows America's continual commitment for Equality with additional civil protections later exclaimed in its Bill of Rights and U.S. Constitutional Amendments. Seeing the diversity of individuals seated in The Great Hall of the Chicago Union Station awaiting their departures with some wearing traditional clothing for their religious faith, everyone of different races, some alone, some as couples, some grouped as families, some physically challenged, some weary, some energetic and all peacefully coexisting in America's 3rd-largest city in the heart of America's Midwest. The flag hung fittingly placed over us all seemingly representing each of us in our own individualities in this station of crisscrossing railways, quietly, subconsciously united us together in this...Union Station. I'm proud to be an American and I stand proud with America as it truly represents the last hope We All share to stand United.
