That’s what I try to tell my fellow seniors in our senior section 8 apartment complex. Sad so many with walkers and canes. I try and walk allot and do the free Yoga class every Wednesday at senior center. Lots on numerous meds.

Legit 100%, since I made a lifestyle change 2yrs ago, I never felt better in my life. I’ve always been active/athletic, but increased my workouts to 4 days a week and never felt better. I find that instead of working out on circuits, I challenge myself harder in strength training/bootcamp classes. It’s been a game changer. Now it’s the number one thing I look forward to, before I start my day. My natural medicine is exercise💪

So true and actually simple! Some people fear the word exercise, I swap it for Movement when noticing some resistance!

Rebounding aka trampolines, have been proven to increase lymphatic function and increase muscle strength. Just by simply bouncing up and down on a small trampoline.

What do you do when you have severe chronic fatigue & a terrible immune system that has me sick all of the time? I cannot exercise on a regular basis at all and continue to suffer from more problems from being sedentary.

Right on, Dr. Hyman. I figure my dog walking exercise as prep for tree planting and food growing, which I see as interdependent. Hmm, huh?

my endocrinologist told me only very mild exercise due to Hashimoto’s and mixed connective tissue disorder. Is this correct?

Mark Hyman, MD
Exercise is one of the most powerful medicines we have—and it’s completely free.
Exercise strengthens your body’s defense system.
It improves circulation, allowing immune cells and nutrients to travel more efficiently throughout your body. It also enhances lymphatic flow, helping flush out toxins and waste that can compromise immunity.
Ever curious why you feel happier after a workout? Exercise reduces stress hormones like cortisol, which, when chronically elevated, can suppress immune function and increase inflammation.
Chronic, low-grade inflammation is at the root of nearly every modern disease. But regular, moderate exercise has been shown to lower inflammatory markers, helping your immune system focus on real threats—not triggering unnecessary alarms.
About 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week is enough to boost immunity without causing excess stress on the body.
So whether it’s walking, strength training, yoga, or dancing in your living room—move your body daily.
