The Senate already voted to make Daylight Savings Time permanent. If the House approves, we'll be on DST perpetually. I think this is a BAD idea for many reasons: Sun won't rise in northern latitudes until 9:00 in the winter, standard time is closer to our own natural body clocks, etc. It was tried in the early 1970s, and after one winter of kids walking to school in the dark, most people decided it was a bad idea. I WOULD like for us to quit changing our clocks twice a year, but I think permanent Standard Time makes much more sense. Which would YOU pick? Permanent DST, Permanent Standard Time, or keeps things as they are? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f1lH...

Permanent savings time. The last thing I want is dark at 5pm. Nothing is more depressing than watching the sun go down in the middle of the day.

In Western Australia, we have referendums on Daylight Savings. We vote “no” then the politicians trial daylight savings.

I don't know why they don't just go 30 minutes permanently and meet in the middle. Technically time is just a unit of measurement that only works according to rotation of earth, earth rotation around the sun. No one asked me when they demoted Pluto from a planet. I feel the same way about this. I'm all for stopping the time change, just which one is the real issue.

As someone who grew up in Alaska the one hour never made a noticeable difference. Winter was dark. Summer was light. I just want DLS to go away. One option is just as fine as the other for me.

I’ve always thought it was silly that we collectively pretend the time is different from what it is. If I had my druthers, I’d prefer permanent standard time, but I am content with permanent daylight savings if we stop changing. I just think it makes more sense to go by standard time, and push our daily schedule off an hour as opposed to pretending noon is an hour before the sun is at its zenith.

I feel that standard time is more natural. Also, I don’t like bureaucrats changing everything just because they can. Constant management coming from the upper casts is really bad. Little by little, they spread their tentacles, defining what we can eat, how much energy we can spend, if we can smoke, etc. Life is becoming really boring and over managed, and the only ones that seem to like things the way they are going is the younger generation, too cynical and materialistic to care about anything.

I totally agree. Why are they doing permanent daylight savings? I guess because people are unhealthy and stay up late. I hope they switch back or go to standard!

In Russia, we realized that switching clocks back and forth is a bad idea, and in 2011 we switched to permanent daylight savings time. Then it became clear that something was wrong again, and in 2014 we switched to permanent standard time, and we have been living like this ever since.

I would be miserable with permanent standard time. I need sun later in the day to go for evening walks and take my kids swimming, not earlier to drop them off at school. Only selfish bikers and runners who like waking up at the crack of dawn will benefit from permanent standard time.

Is there anything the goddamn state doesn't want to interfere with? Ffs.

I think Daylight Savings has always been ridiculous even as a kid. I loved and still love hopping on my bike at 5am-ish and pedaling in the light. One of my favorite things to ride the bike early as possible. I don't understand where this permanent Daylight Savings idea has come from. Why? Its stupid. Keep up the great content! I finally got to play Elden Ring! My plunge into a From Software game! Every time ive watched you stream Dark Souls games ive always wanted to play but never have. Until now.
