🐾Any dog🐩 can walk straight ahead. 🐕It takes a highly skilled, intelligent, creative mind to discover every square inch of territory in ones path.🥰😻💕 Only a German Shepherd 🐕🦺Genius can do this special task. Great job

Yeah, I got German Shepherds. One is older and calm, you dont know she's there on the leash... But other is young and aggressive, and she does the manouvering while thinking I'm a sled pull... And does it both ways on our Mutt March... Occaisional she forgets to sled pull, and I appreciate the relief of not doing 5 mph at a stumble...

My mini dachshund walks off the line because we live in the country and he is obedient . He enjoys the walks because we give him time to stop and sniff and explore. We are lucky that he is too small to see the hares running in the fields, but he wouldn't be able to keep up with them anyway. Love from germany

To be fair, in my 5 years of professional dog care, I've only met A **S I N G L E** DOG who walked like the first one. She was also an old lady, ~15, two types of cancer, on palliative care, and she STILL walked me harder than any other dog I've known. Man I miss her. ..... Come to think of it, she was (assumed to be,) some kind of Shepherd-y mix! 😅

My dog, too. Best if two people are walking her to walk single file. And if we're in a new neighborhood, expect the walk to take at least 10% longer.

Lol so true. I was trying to train my GS to just walk straight but 🤔 maybe she should just zigza

Same with my border collie. Every walk is a snifari and I let him explore and sniff everything. It exercises his mind and body far more than an isolated straight ahead walk.

My border collie does this, but he does it behind me which means I either have to pass the leash behind my back to change hands or spin around to change sides!!! And heaven forbid he missed sniffing 1 square inch of grass 1/2 a block back 😡 I laughed out loud when I saw you diagram

🤣 he is the smartest & cutest... even Google map or GPS tracking, or any kind of sensors will fail to track him

If we go on a trail, it takes like 2hrs to go a mile cuz of all the smells. 🤣 We live on a ranch so the boys usually have tons of smells to go investigate

That's putting a positive spin on getting spun around by a 120lb Shepherd! I like.

I have spent tons of money on training my gsd and now 20 bucks for a muzzle and now everything is great. I had Dobermans and other dogs but this one from Germany 🇩🇪 is nutz and he is not fixed because I want to breed him but he is a mission. I don’t need protection from chipmunks 🐿️ and the Amazon or up

Walks aren’t just for exercise — they’re for sniffing, exploring, and mental stimulation too! Letting your dog follow their nose helps reduce stress, build confidence, and tap into their natural instincts. Embrace the zigzag!
