William Faucher

Hey everyone! I wanted to gather your thoughts on the audio quality of my last couple videos. Do you feel like it sounds good? Needs work? I ask primarily because I'm deaf, and genuinely can't hear things very well at all, even with hearing aids. Your input is appreciated!

@DustinKreidler

The audio is perfect. It’s never even occurred to me that you might have hearing issues, or that something might be affecting the audio. Absolutely awesome work. Thanks for all you do!

Hey William, you already seem to have a good grasp on your audio production despite being hard of hearing, and likely only using audio production as a side skill to compliment all the all super awesome things you do. With that being said, if you're looking to fine tune your workflow some more and need some more guidance on your DAW or set up, I hope the below helps. If we take your set up You already have a well rounded & smooth voice which that in itself makes for really easy listening, even for +20min videos or live streams. You've paired that likely with an SM7B mike,but in general with the smooth tones of your voice you could use so many large diaphragm mics or close proximity Lavs if you needed to and be absolutely fine. You've done well to capture a really good eq for yourself as well ( I hope you've saved those profiles!) Your annunciations are nice and clear because of this. When you change from front facing to desk recording there's a change,just die to positioning and likely screen reflecting your voice, but it's nothing bad at all, just different. What good here is that you've kept any room noise to a minimum, which is quite impressive. Some key average guidelines on the recording/ measuring and YouTube side is things are as follows, so if these figure sound familiar then you can certainly rest assured that you're doing really well already. Recording in ( fader in bound) -8 - -6 DBs Output Target 13-14 LUFs YouTube Volume compression ( stats for nerds) 100/100% ( your YouTube Volume / if any compression is happening 100=0 compression) content loudness (-9 - 0dbs) Ideally if you sweet spot -6 DBs here or -3 consistently, then you're only "under" YouTubes reference value by that much which would account most likely for 90% of YouTube, in your case your latest unreal - davinci video clocked -9.6dbs under YouTubes reference level, which is still absolutely fine. YouTube isn't compressing anything and you're not blowing up peoples ears, win! If you have any particular concerns about you audio workflow feel free to reach out. My music mentor was Def, and toured with cirque du soleil on the music management for a few years before she got some, disk implants I think. Either way, I feel especially for YouTube consumers, you're audio content is already above and beyond. Hope that helps some :).

The audio sounds good but i'd suggest to go a bit slowly WHERE important things are getting explained like a particular setting or important points to remember b4 taking a particular action.

The sound is good. Over all quality is very good. The only problem for me is my own lack of experience with unreal. How do I get in touch with you Will? Would like to buy some of your time if possible :)
