In this case, I think the text was changed because the original’s use of “chubby” felt like it was fat shaming.

Fat, chubby, large, are all insults. Children should ne taught that being chubby is noy a good thing.

We live in an era where fat shaming is now frowned upon. Not that this has stopped people from making obesity jokes in YouTube Poops. One of my favorite is in “Yogi Bear tlt uolliaC” by KroboProductions. Ringmaster: That’s Lesson Two; Obesity! Yogi: That one I’ll remember, Sir!

Why change the text? Kids should know that eating too much junk food can make you fat.

I wonder why CBS wouldn't let the Berestains make an episode of this during the 80s?

Quick question, why did CBS not let Stan and Jan Berenstain adapt this book into the cartoon show?

That's messed up! If you eat too much junk food, you gain weight! It's not rude to say!😮

I never liked that book. If you're going to say how evil junk food id, how about talking about how it leads to malnutrition or lack of energy? "Food makes you fat" is just a lazy way to push that lesson. Even "good old fruit" has too much sugar, and we were lead to believe juice is actually good for you.

Another classic "Berenstain Bears" book has some text changed for modern reprints! This time it's "Too Much Junk Food," another episode CBS wouldn't let Stan and Jan Berenstain adapt into the 1980s Saturday morning cartoon!
