Run Smarter with Brodie Sharpe | Physio

If you had to choose, would you prefer to do double-leg or single-leg strengthening exercises if the aim was to improve your running? (eg. Exercises such as squats, deadlifts, calf raises).

...After submitting your answer, leave a comment on WHY you chose it...

Single leg because it means my left leg has a chance to get some reps in without the right leg dominating. I always start with my weaker leg and that sets the weight. The downside of single leg exercises is that it takes longer to do the same volume.

@emmalittle

I have gotten used to single leg and quite like the feedback I get about the differences. And yes ❀ for an amazing channel. Only found you today after PHT flare up and has already been useful.

@jconcoffee

Single leg because you can address imbalances and it's more running focused.

I put double leg because time factor & that’s how I was traditionally trained but after reading comments I’m now convinced single leg better πŸ‘

Single leg to help strengthen the tendon. I suffer from jumpers knee (patela tendonitis) in the left patela from trail running.

Injury prevention by strengthening the smaller, balancing muscles (I love your videos btw - stellar work on the research) πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈπŸ™‡β€

Single because my power meter pedals show a large discrepancy between right and left especially under heavy load.

I KNOW from all you've shared I'm supposed to do single but me I run for pleasure and I do strength training for pleasure too, so double, because it's easier so more enjoyable and consequently much easier and far more likely to maintain consistency !!πŸ€·β€β™€ However, I do regularly do single leg and foot balance exercises with yoga and body balance

IMO Nothing compliments running (a single leg repetitive motion) more than single leg exercises

Single. You only run on one leg at a time

Single leg because my left leg is much stronger than my right
