1. Watching real events that make me wonder, "What if that happened differently?" Or "What is that person's motivation for doing that?" Or "What's happening behind closed doors?" 2. I get way too emotional about the real events that inspire those stories. Then I start to lose hope in people, and I grasp at something to distract me from the hopelessness, and I don't write anything.

The inspiration comes natural, it’s like my brain is wired to think a certain way or create. Sometimes it’s mid conversation or mundane task and I just notice or am struck by an idea or concept. Other times it’s like suddenly, as if sent by a higher force, inspiration strikes. A complete idea/concept that requires a bit of chiseling or adding to. To answer the second part, yes and no. Often find myself cringing at older work or out right scrapping cause I assimilated it or its “spirit” into a greater project or idea. I feel like for the most part art isn’t done till it’s done. I hear comics say similar things, a joke isn’t done till it’s done. They’ll take a premise or setup or what have you spin it in every angle possible then set it down and move on. Then serendipitously the joke or what ever regains relevance or can be repurposed months, years, decades later. I find a lot of inspiration from old art, ideas, perspectives I had. To the point where I wonder what would have became of certain projects I gave up on completely and threw out as opposed to the stuff that (seemingly fatefully) stuck around.
