And they still don't even let people add their own dubbing, just the stupid ai one.

It's dumb because I'm bilingual and it keeps autodubbing things to me in either language when I never asked, I can't seem to be able to turn it off as a viewer either. It is a cool concept, but with how skewed automatic translations can be, especially with slang and accents, they should've focused on autosubtitling instead.

Kanata had a hilarious incident with the auto dub when she watched some clips of the Minecraft money race event. This stupid feature did not help at all, only caused frustration by being annoying to turn off. I'm already annoyed that it keeps translating video titles from languages I speak and have listed in my Google preferences.

Someone gets six figures for making this decision, and another person is paid six figures to say it's actually a bad decision.

Youtube: Demonitizes clippers for "untransformative work" Also Youtube: Uses ai for auto-dub on other people's work

Feels like this will allow a lot of mistranslated hurtful clips coming out

Auto dubbing isnt the only issue. I guess not many noticed yet, because they have their settings on english or only watch Videos in their own language.... it seems Like YT starts auto translating Titles and the infobox into the language set by the User. I think its related to the Auto Synchronisation, that creators can Pick in their settings for their Channel/Videos. So far, i couldnt find a Button to Stop that behaviour from my Side. Its.... confusing .... to see Titles in my language and then see, that this Channel CLEARLY isnt from my Region. Im partially watching english Videos to keep my english skills active.... YT probably thinks they do a good Job, because its "comfortable", but they should give us the choice, if we want that.

Default enabled is something really dubious, Instagram also did it with their location sharing stuff recently. These platforms need to stop with their stupid "I know what you want" ideas.

youtube greed is already an issue, them being out of touch aswell just makes things more annoying to use this platform

I just want auto-subtitles that are AI verified and closer to perfect than the "Google Translate" equivalent that we have now.

I would love to know where they get the data that says people want this as a default. I've seen a few auto-dubbed videos and I avoid those like the plague..

This reminds me of how they took away community subtitles right when vtubers were taking off

We all know that this is not the first nor will it be the last time that youtube adds an awful feature that nobody asked for

I also hate that they auto translate video description and title. Like I'm trying to improve japanese by reading doing more reading and now you translate them to my native languageš©

I hate that Youtube thinks this is the default option people wants. Oh yes I would really like to hear Vtuber play games and sing in automated robot voices. Oh yes auto-translating and auto-dubbing is surely going to help lessen misinformation on this platform.
Yes you can turn it off, but it's something they're pushing onto people. Sometimes you'll even see autodubbed ads, of all things. Like WTF?
