I hate to be the party pooper here, but my son has lived in Split, Croatia for many years. He is marrying a Croatian woman and they are moving out because they say tourism has destroyed the country. Dubrovnik more than Split, but I visited him and was horrified by what I saw. I live in Italy half the year, and Croatia is not as bad as my beloved Venice, but it is a problem in many places. I hope you know how much I love you and your channel, Laurie, and please don’t see this as an attack. Rather a plea that since you have such power and influence, you can be a positive force to help us rethink how we travel. Your kind nature makes you the perfect Ambassador! It is a complex issue, for sure. Consider the impact it has on the earth, the creatures that share it, and the people that are negatively impacted by our visits. I’m not saying we shouldn’t travel, just being thoughtful about how we do it. Thank you for considering my comments, I look forward to your take on it. I still think you are terrific!

I’ve been to all those places and I loved them all for different reasons. You can’t go wrong spending time at anyone of them, but to see all of them is amazing. 😊

I found Croatia difficult due to the hoards of people, especially Dubrovnik. I loved Slovenia. Ljubljana was such a treat. Not on your cruise list, but get yourself to Bosnia and Herzegovina one day. Such a fascinating country.

Slovenia is a beautiful country, small but perfectly formed. Stunning scenery from the Adriatic to the Alpine lakes and mountains. You’ll find everything from alpine villages, stunning views from the mountain passes and the lakes to charming Ljubljana and the coastal ports. Fantastic cave systems to wonder at and a river so turquoise blue you can’t believe it. A hikers paradise or easy wanders through wild flower meadows, need I go on. S❤nia

I am in Croatia right now on a tour of many Eastern European countries. Yesterday we were in Slovenia and found it to be the most beautiful country. My favorite area was Lake Bled and it's surrounding countryside. It is absolutely stunning. We are not visiting the coastal areas of Croatia but in Zagreb. I find the city not as impressive as the amazing countryside with it's lovely small towns and green rolling hills. All so beautiful. Off to Plitvice Lakes a National Park. Which is supposed to be stunning. So much more to see.

I have been Greece and Venice and loved both. I am going back to Italy next year and will spend time in Venice again, and would love to go back to Greece. My grands are 1/4 greek and have both been taking greek since 1st grade (now 6th and 8th) and I really want to take them when I go back.

I just got back from Croatia and went to Greece back in 2010. Wish I could have fit in Venice and Slovenia. I’m definitely going to try to go to Italy next year.

I did this in July, plus Montenegro also on Viking. Fantastic itinerary! I love Montenegro and Croatia both! And Greece! Sailing from Barcelona to Athens late April 2026 on Explora II. Enjoy your trip!
