People that complain about how there aren't many long running series anymore are kinda stupid. I think that a mangaka being able to finish their story when they want to instead of it being stretched out for more content is a great thing.

Yo my favourite ex-alcoholic. Words like 'overrated' and 'underrated' have lost their meaning cause anime fans forget that just cause someone thinks a show is overrated doesn't mean they think it's bad, just that it didn't live up to your expectations. Also we still #NotAReactionChannel

Ping Pong the animation is the greatest sports anime of all time. I'm not trying to say it's underrated, because pretty much everyone who actually decides to watch it does realize it's peak. I'm just saying it doesn't get the representation it deserves.

100 girlfriends will be known as one of the best mangas of all time once completed. The setup is too legendary for something else to occur upon completion

Music is one of the most important parts of creating a piece of media thats worth remembering. If you create a good, catchy and recognizable theme for a character or a show that character or show will inevitably be remembered more positively than it would've if it just had some bargain basement generic sounding score. It makes it much easier to be invested in a characters actions and motivations whenever a memorable motif plays. Man of steel is a great example, the movie isn't that great story wise but the music is so incredibly good that it brings it from like a 6 to an 8 or 9 for me. Also obligatory jojo mention but part 5 would not be nearly as popular as it is if all of its themes didn't absolutely slap

Relatability and ‘aura’ is a net negative to modern media, be it anime, tv, or movies. I don’t understand how some one can dislike a show or movie because the MC ‘ is not relatable or cool’. People are actively choosing not to engage in a stories themes and writing because they think it’ll make them look like a nerd, or a loser. See LOTM drama or people seeing Denji as the ‘I want to touch boobs guy’ instead of actually enraging in what Fujimoto is attempting to convey through him. I get that certain stories are not for everyone and that’s fine, but people spreading outright misinformation because they’re too dense to take the time to actually understand something and misrepresenting entire communities is a seriously harmful thing.

In order for amazingly animated fight sequences to have emotional impact, they have to be backed up by incredible music, sound design, voice acting, etc. This is what makes shows like Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan so popular.

The anime community needs a few big 'lightning rod' shows like MHA, KnY JJK, Naruto, OP running at all times, so it keeps the most annoying people contained away from more underrated, better series. That's why there's no bigger curse than a decently successful series crossing into the full mainstream, it gets infested by people who don't actually like the show/comic, they just want to yap. (I'm grateful that AD didn't fully cross that like, the fandom is still mostly chill)

Not really a hot take but I think the fact that creating manga is much easier nowadays has better upsides than downsides for me, more manga to fill your niche. Love you dame

1)The longer an anime the better it is because you feel more attached to the characters. 2)Binging an anime is way better then watching shows weekly. You dont forget what happened in the past episodes and you also notice the little details like the foreshadowing.

Marineford isn’t that great of an arc. I just can’t buy into some of the fights, since the power scaling feels completely off. Watching Crocodile take on Mihawk, or Luffy getting anywhere near the admirals without being instantly speed-blitzed, just breaks my immersion. It’s sad, because I think it could’ve been fixed by simply making the Whitebeard commanders stronger. In the end, I didn’t really enjoy Marineford because of this.

Shipping daughter over powerscaling son. If I hear my child mention “feats” or “verse”, I’m disowning them. Something about the way these people form sentences just pisses me off

Sometimes, "memorable" shouldn't be used as an indicator for quality. I remember Domestic girlfriend vividly (unfortunately), but I could never even dare to suggest that it's better than something like The Devil is a Part-timer (something slightly less memorable for me). Sure, it's usually accurate, but by no means does it feel like something to live by.

In anime and any other media, when everything is solved at the end by time traveling, that's the worst kind of writing could ever exists. it's not like all time traveling anime are bad, just the ones that have a conflict, something hapenned that could not be fixed and out of nowhere... "time travel" ... and everybody lived happily ever after.

People complain about monopolisation of anime distribution but then also complain about the hassle when an anime is on any service other than Crunchyroll (maybe Hidive too). Or they don’t watch them, which will cause the streaming services to stop licensing more anime. Bonus hot take: Tatsuki Fujimoto’s best work is the oneshot ‘Imouto no Ane’

I’m convinced that anime comes in trope waves every 15 years or so; First was the harem anime, but then came the isekai genre. I believe we’re reaching the end of the isekai trope wave and another one will replace it in the next two years.

Other than actually watching/reading a medium or a demographic (film, shows etc), there should be no other criteria for you to call yourself a fan of something. You can watch a show for 4 or 5 episodes and call yourself a fan because you enjoy the series. There should be no milestone or episode count to engage in a fandom and call yourself a fan. I deadass could watch 2 episodes of One Piece, enjoy the hell out of it and consider myself a fan because I love it.

Just because a show is convoluted and complicated, doesn't mean that it is complex. Plenty of authors have no idea how to use exposition and sometimes a large portion of the info you just spent braincells on processing, is irrelevant in the next episode.

Japanese studios should take inspiration from chinese ones to improve their 3D game and use it in more jp anime. Also 2000-2010 was the best period of anime, that's where you got the most interesting shows that even when meh, really felt like they had a soul
