I’m also trying to learn this art style. I recommend first learning a bit about anatomy as Toriyama tended to warp it in his art (I’d only say do this if you know a lot about anatomy first). Once you’ve learnt that, then you’ll understand the placement of everything and why it’s there. Now you can start to actually look at the art style itself and how everything’s drawn, like the shape of the eyes and faces.

My 2 cents as a Manga art teacher: 1) Observation: Drawing is first and foremost observation. Pay attention to the linework (thickness of outline for example). Observe the proportions used for the face and body. DBZ tend to have exaggerated muscles with small facial features compressed towards the middle of the head. 2)Deconstruction: Before drawing take a DBZ image and deconstruct it in simple shapes and volumes. You can trace over it first and then analyze it to reproduce it on your own. 3) Reference Study: Now you can start trying to replicate it on your own. Don't blindly try to copy the reference. Analyze, adjust and take your time. Use construction lines to give structure to your drawings and not merely try to guess where the features are. I suggest making your own reference with a default model of a DBZ character. Since they have similar builds you can use it as a template where all the facial features and proportions are respected.

Hey I used to do dragon Ball drawings for a while and I just wanted to give some things real quick. Number one is the eyes 👀 the I should be like a little triangles with smaller triangles on top and there should be a small Gap in between the eyes and then put a small w shape in betwee

Draw a DBZ character in your style, then a different character in the Toriyama style. That way the observation is as you go and not stuck on the observation point.

Start from drawing the characters that lack details like male characters or maybe kids or simplified versions of the characters then maybe start with more detailed ones

Look at a lot of references and try to recreate it (I'm not saying to trace). That's what I'll do at least. Hope that helps 👋
