Have you ever used Facebook and/or Twitter for genealogy or to find family?

I have used both for genealogy for many years, but most especially facebook. I used facebook to find family, get help in genealogy groups, and started my own groups to help other families connect.

I connected with some cousins on FB, ones I knew about, and ones I discovered doing my re search. I also belong to a number of the genealogy groups.

Finding old family pictures on the Facebook pages of relatives is really great.

I’ve used FB, mainly to join genealogy groups to ask or answer questions. These are usually county-specific groups.

I use facebook for both joining research groups and for trying to track down relatives. So far it's been a very useful tool.

Many people put relations, relationships, and birthdays on Facebook so it helps filling out some blanks that you've had. So I mainly use fb for that. I don't really reach out to people or anything like that though.

Facebook has great genealogy groups, and many old relatives use them. Problem is all the catfishing and scam bots that bloat my notifications

I’ve definitely met cousins on Facebook. Some people don’t use Ancestry because they’re more old school but they may be on the Facebook groups. The cousins who have a pic of my 3rd great grandparents that flaked on showing it to us don’t do either but the next generation who inherits their stuff might

Facebook is a great Genealogy tool, especially when you're trying to find someone's biological family.

I found branches of my family through Facebook. It’s amazing, now we share genealogical information together. We have a special page to share that stuff. People always say rotten things about Facebook, but I would’ve never ever ever have met my cousins through this method and on Facebook, you get the recent photos of your relatives and sometimes they will share photos that you have never seen before.
