It should be noted however, that in Neil’s mind, he did not say, “… for man.” He said, “… for a man.” It’s just that the “A wasn’t very discernible in the audio.

For those of us who watched the moon landing in July of 69 would know that it was Neil Armstrong, I was 5yrs old when the moon landing happened.

None of them, but Armstrong did say “That’s one small step for A man, one giant leap for mankind”. The transmission was slightly garbled, leaving the “a” unheard, and making the perceived quote grammatically incorrect, yet oddly more iconic

I remember him saying it in the sound studio. Took a lot of takes.

He said, "That's one small step for a man, one giant step for Manny Klein." Manny Klein was a little known astronaut and good friend of Armstrong's. Klein never got credit for working tirelessly for the Apollo Moon Project. Armstrong gave him recognition on that historic day. You're welcome.😄

Commander John Shepard said this while Garrus Vakarian snickered behind him.

For A man, not for man. Meaning one person takes a small step, but the whole species makes big progress.
