Is hitting your child to change behavior okay?

It does not work. Every time it happened to me, all it did was make me hate and resent that parent. And I had no idea what I had done wrong most of the time, since it wasn't explained. Never ever okay.

Absolutely not! My parents were teen parents so emotionally immature and selfish. They used hitting us to control and make my siblings and I more obedient didn’t teach us anything other than to have anger issues and to hit each other. I have children and I have spanked both once and I felt sick. After that I made it a point to apologize to them and never did it again.

Violence is really never ok. It does so much damage. You start to remember that crap in your 40s and 50s and it was damaging. I was a teacher and NEVER SCREAMED or threaten or scared my kids. It was mutual respect. I gave them choices and consequences when they didn’t follow through with their choice. My point, USE YOUR WORDS. TAKK FEELINGS. ASK WHY KIDDO DID X thing. All hitting does is make the problem bigger.

If you teach your kids from when they are old enough to understand you will have no issues.. im glad my kids I never had to get too angry with them. I was a only kid and I wasn’t a bad kid so im guessing that might have helped ha!

I personally didn't I doesn't make sense to hit a child for bad behaviour wen hitting is, and wen my mum did it I didn't stop doing what it was because I respected her it was fear and I don't want my cubs to be scared of me 💜

@aceclop

It definitely should be a last resort and even then it won't fix the root of the problems.
