Hi everyone! It's been quite a while since I've been active, so I thought it was time for an update. I've only uploaded one video since the Fall semester started, and it wasn't even a Cabrillo episode.
The explanation is simple: my time at university is brief due to COVID, and I am just trying to do what I can to make the most of the time I've got. Right now I've just been adjusting to in-person classes, and trying to spend time doing things off the internet. Beyond this, I just needed a break from Cities: Skylines for once.
I've been uploading Cities: Skylines videos since Fall 2016, which is a full five years. That's more than a quarter of my life. Yet, even after this break, I still don’t want to stop. I still imagine places I want to build in Cabrillo. I still see ways to expand this community’s focus on urban planning.
There’s no way of knowing how much time I’ll have next semester, but if I have space in my schedule I want to start creating content in Cabrillo again. This might look something like a livestream every week or two and a short explanatory video every month or two (for example, “The Urban Design of Downtown Cabrillo” or “The History of Morgan). I would love some feedback on what kind of content you’d like to see, but it’s not going to be what I’ve been making for five years.
I still feel that the “standard format” of Cities: Skylines videos is really limiting; it doesn’t allow me to be creative. Even the most recent Cabrillo episode—where we built the neighborhood of Peralta in an experimental format—did not feel like the kind of content I want to be making. But mainly, I seriously don’t have the time to make videos like I used to. I probably do have the time to do livestreams, though, and they’re a lot more fun anyway.
I haven’t gone anywhere, and I want to get back to creating content. I just needed a break. I’ll keep you all updated (follow my Twitter: twitter.com/pres_yt).
Happy holidays! Get some rest, eat some food, and definitely ride your bike!
