Pres

Hi everyone! It's been quite a while since I've been active, so I thought it was time for an update. I've only uploaded one video since the Fall semester started, and it wasn't even a Cabrillo episode.

The explanation is simple: my time at university is brief due to COVID, and I am just trying to do what I can to make the most of the time I've got. Right now I've just been adjusting to in-person classes, and trying to spend time doing things off the internet. Beyond this, I just needed a break from Cities: Skylines for once.

I've been uploading Cities: Skylines videos since Fall 2016, which is a full five years. That's more than a quarter of my life. Yet, even after this break, I still don’t want to stop. I still imagine places I want to build in Cabrillo. I still see ways to expand this community’s focus on urban planning.

There’s no way of knowing how much time I’ll have next semester, but if I have space in my schedule I want to start creating content in Cabrillo again. This might look something like a livestream every week or two and a short explanatory video every month or two (for example, “The Urban Design of Downtown Cabrillo” or “The History of Morgan). I would love some feedback on what kind of content you’d like to see, but it’s not going to be what I’ve been making for five years.

I still feel that the “standard format” of Cities: Skylines videos is really limiting; it doesn’t allow me to be creative. Even the most recent Cabrillo episode—where we built the neighborhood of Peralta in an experimental format—did not feel like the kind of content I want to be making. But mainly, I seriously don’t have the time to make videos like I used to. I probably do have the time to do livestreams, though, and they’re a lot more fun anyway.

I haven’t gone anywhere, and I want to get back to creating content. I just needed a break. I’ll keep you all updated (follow my Twitter: twitter.com/pres_yt).

Happy holidays! Get some rest, eat some food, and definitely ride your bike!

I feel that man. I lost almost half of my college experience to COVID. Definitely take the time you need because you can't get it back as I've found out. Enjoy yourself. Happy holidays!

I know the feeling. I invested so much time and thought into the game that I was burnt out and needed a total break. It’s unlike any other game in that once you’re playing you get fully invested into the details and being an adhd perfectionist I hit a wall. I love this game and the positive energy it brings out to the community. I can’t play it if my mind isn’t focused or dedicated to what I’m building which is unlike any other games I play that I can pick up and play for few hours with not much energy. This game is wonderful and I want to enjoy placing small assets as much as creating a road network. Anyone else have similar mindset about the game? Your videos are unique and inspirational so thank you and good luck with your book learnin!

Take all the time u need bro. I would happily wait a year or more for another Cabrillo video. And I am NEVER that patient. The whole semester thing is kinda confusing because we don't have that in the UK but good luck anyway. Love everything u do from The Great British County of Buckinghamshire :)

Yes take care of you! You can’t pour from an empty cup. Also, you got this with school.

You should make whatever content you feel is best and what interests you the most! I love all of the urban planning aspect and the history that you add, so entire videos centering on that would be very interesting. I just hope that we can still see the process. Watching a neighborhood/build come together is one of my favorite parts of it all, so I hope that it stays, even if you aren't talking about the process of the build while it goes on. Talking about the history or concepts of urban design could be more engaging for us and for you.

It’s not really something you’d normally do on YouTube but it’s fine if you don’t have a strict streaming schedule, honestly I wouldn’t mind if streamed 3pm Tuesday one week and 6pm Thursday the next. Whatever works for you.

Why not try twitch - I literally just watched a guy make a underground garage for 5 hours straight. Better than video edits IMO
