P.K. Rosy was the first heroine of Malayalam cinema. Rosy, born a Dalit Pulaya in present-day Thiruvananthapuram, was the female lead in JC Daniel's film 'Vigathakumaran'. After the release, the film came under the ire of upper caste folk, who felt that Rosy, being Dalit, brought shame to their community by playing the role of an upper caste woman. The BBC's Bimal Thankachan and Divya Uppal travelled to Kerala to uncover Rosy's life, loss and what remains of her memory.
